Congratulations to Andy on winning the Musician Of The Year at the Radio 2 Folk Awards. Thoroughly deserved. He has quietly had a hand in many projects over the years but his contribution is so often overlooked. Great bloke too. Well done Andy.

Richard Ashe

I'll second that. I'd heard OF him for years but only got to see him perform last Christmas, on telly with Kate (plus some lovely northern brass on one number). Glad he's getting some well-deserved official recognition.

Local lad makes good.... (I live a few minutes walk away from the house Andy grew up in, and used to dance with his mother in Flowers of May).

Really good (and well deserved) news.

Kitty

Deserved indeed. Have been seeing him for many years now, always quietly in the background, adding his magic. I still think he does his best work with Chris Wood, sadly both seem to be too busy for that duo lately.

Congratulations indeed. Whilst not my favourite box player he is highly talented and fully deserving of this recognition

Andy is a superb ambassador for the accordion and trad music in general. He's supremely talented and self-effacingly modest. Too long a backroom boy in my opinion, he should form his own band and take centre stage.
Very well deserved.
Cheers Andy.

Is it me, or is Mr Cutting to the world of squeezables what Jimmy Page was to the electric guitar?

An excellent shout by the folk awards judges.

Cheers

Nigel

You may be correct Nigel but that's in a world were most melodeon players are to music what Jack the Ripper was to microsurgery.

I have played different kinds of music for 35 years, and reviewed folk records nearly as long. Very few musicians, if any, has made such a deep and lasting impression as Andy Cutting. He´s simply touching hearts with his fingers.
