Recently there was a thread about Pig Dyke Molly looking for new musicians. The background to this was that, for health reasons, Robin Griggs, the melodeon player and inspiration behind Pig Dyke Molly's music (and a lot else) for many years, was no longer able to play.

Robin died on 29th January.
The funeral was today, 11 February.

Rob also maintained the Pig Dyke Molly website. Despite never having met Rob, I have somehow inherited the horrifying combined responsibility of playing music for Pig Dyke Molly and also maintaining the web site which I have had to rebuild from scratch. As can be guessed from the tributes, and as you'll know if you remember the old web site, he's an impossible act to follow.

Lots of tributes and memories have come in, from team members and others, which are on the Pig Dyke Molly website HERE. They are worth reading to the end. The man was a creative genius.

Anahata

Gosh what a wonderful tribute.
Not many of us will be so mourned.

Thanks

G.

I am very sorry to hear that.
Once you have seen Pig Dyke Molly, you never forget them.
I saw them with my family at the Moor & Coast Festival 3/4 years ago.
They were so impressive.
May you rest in peace Robin and I can't think of anybody better to handle your responsibilties than Anahata. They are in safe hands.

As Curate-elect of the Molly Ring, may I extend my condolences to you all. I look forward to meeting you once again around the festivals, esp as Whittlesey seems months away.

George

That's very sad news. Pig Dyke Molly are one of the very best dancing sides and he will be missed.

George yes indeed, Whittlesey is 11 months away :(
but hopefully they will be at Ely as they are every year.
