Subject: RE: Michael Smith in Toledo, Oregon From: open mike Date: 15 Feb 08 - 02:06 PM Frank brings the best musicians to Toledo...Oregon, that is! Michael Peter Smith is the one who wrote one of the best love songs of all time...the Dutchman....and he also performs with a quartet called Fourtold . When Amsterdam is golden in the morning Margaret brings him breakfast She believes him He thinks that tulips bloom beneath the snow He's mad as he can be But Margaret only sees that sometimes Sometimes she sees her unborn children in his eyes. "The Dutchman" by Michael Smith here are some other venues where he is performing (see mucic-cal link) |
Subject: RE: Michael Smith in Toledo, Oregon From: Ebbie Date: 15 Feb 08 - 05:37 PM Michael Smith performed in Juneau on February 11. He is a personable, comfortable, whimsical, talented and very professional performer. His guitar work is extraordinary. And in some songs he imitates other singers. I had forgotten what Arthur Godfrey sounded like - he died more than 20 years ago- but Smith's rendition was impeccable. And many of his songs are just plain hilarious- sometimes they make even him giggle. |

Subject: RE: Michael Smith in Toledo, Oregon From: Francy Date: 17 Feb 08 - 12:13 PM Michael was magnificent! I can't say enough about him... A great guitarist and a wonderful voice....He had a full house audience spellbound with tears & laughter and every other emotion, in awe of this really true artist....There are many so called "singer/singwriters" in this world of Folk Music but there aren't many truly great singer/songwriters like Michael Smith. All I can say is "WOW" ! ! Frank of Toledo |
Subject: RE: Michael Smith in Toledo, Oregon From: Fred Maslan Date: 17 Feb 08 - 03:13 PM He performed last saturday at the phinney center in Seattle. He was unexpectedly, for me, one of the funniest performers I have heard in a long time. He sang the dutchman and spoon river beautifully as expected, but most of his concert was songs I had never heard and with his patter had me laughing in the aisles.. wonderful go see him if you can. |
