Subject: Lyr Req: Springhill Miracle From: GUEST,Karl Dallas Date: 18 Feb 08 - 11:07 AM At roughly the same time as Ewan MacColl and Peggy Seeger composed The Ballad of Springhill, I wrote a song on the same subject, which I called The Springhill Miracle - the miracle being that some men had survived after being trapped underground for over a week - "alive and defying nature's laws" as I put it in my lyric. John Foreman, the Broadsheet King, published Ewan & Peggy's song and mine on a single broadsheet, but he hasn't got a copy. I haven't got a copy of mine but I would like to start singing it. If anyone has a copy of John's broadsheet, I'd appreciate a photocopy. Also, I wrote a song called The Spidermen Aloft for a Unity Theatre production of a play called See a Man Falling. The lyric was published in the theatre programme. Again, John Foreman can't help. Can any Mudcat subscriber help? Thanks. My email address is karldallas@f2s.com, by the way. I'm always glad to hear from old friends and new. |
