"I pulled into Nazareth
Was feeling 'bout half-past broke....."

Do they have a factory shop where you can buy very cheap discontinued models and rejects with slight dings in them?

Thought not.

Would love to go though.

Norman

I've always heard that lyric as "Feelin' 'bout half-past dead.

(Rhymes with "tryin' to find a place where I might lay my head.")

For years, I had never considered that the "Nazareth" Robbie Robertson was writing about in the first line of that song might have been the one in Pennsylvania, where they make those guitars.

Then, in the winter of '05-'06, while making many trips back and forth between New Orleans and New Jersey along a route going right through Easton, PA, I got a collection of The Band CDs and a DVD packaged with a nice fat hardback book, and finally picked up on the connection. I still found it difficult to detour off the beaten path for a factory visit, but we made our pilgrimage to CF Martin at the beginning of our very last trip south, just as we were heading home for good.

In the liner notes to "Music From Big Pink" it clarifies that the lyric indeed refers to an il-fated trip to the Martin Guitar company in Nazareth PA.

I once owned a vinyl copy of "Big Pink" ~ hard to believe I never read that.

Unless, of course, a new set of liner notes was written for the CD...

Of course, you're right.

I was just trying to make a pun on the lyrics.

I'll get me coat.......

Discontinued or cheap rejects? Sure they do. They are called SIGMA.
