I learned Down in the willow garden, Ommie Wise, and The House Carpenter on the fiddle. WONDERFUL tunes. So I thought, hey lets learn the words. The first two are about murdered women and the last is about a women who goes to hell for adultery with a spirit!!!!! Gee, does it count if it's with a spirit? Anyway, my point is you never know what you'll find in these old songs. Imagine my surprise when I looked-up the lyrics for the Cukcoos Nest! Look it up folks, I don't make 'em up! I actually did get a good laugh out of that one. Now, since I have a friend in the UK who told me what a "fanny" is across the Atlantic I'm almost afraid to look up the lyrics for "Fanny Power." All you folks across the Atlantic KNOW what I'm talking about. Good for laughs though, keep 'em coming! Yours in strange and dirty lyrics, NAN

Not fair, Nan. You should enlighten us to the meaning of fanny in the UK.

Barbara, I am impressed by how delicately that was put.

Brava!

Nowhere near subtle, but if you want a 'guaranteed to offend someone out there', try the 'Ballad of Eskimo Nell' (sorry... too busy to do that blue clicky thing)

I am surprised that 'Fanny Power' was not adopted by the women's movements, as a theme tune.

Does anyone remember President Merkin Muffly from "Dr. Strangelove?" Took me years to get the joke. Thought a merkin was something like a firkin.

My wife occasionally observes that a bold action by a feminist "took a lot of clit," eschewing balls. Ms. Power probably doesn't have words, but the tune could become a campaign number for Hillary's dash for the New York Senate.

I want to point out the "brava" above, making proper use of the feminine ending. What a clever bunch the Mudcatters be!

Sorry about the blank thoughts above! I started to and then I thought, "Noooo! I won't go there!" and clicked the submit button by force of habit after erasing my thoughts!

Sandy,

Why can I not picture (in my mind's ear) Caroline saying, "It took a lot of clit"? That'd be like imagining Gerry Armstrong or Jerry Falwell or Almeda Riddle sayin' it. Couldn't happen.
