Wassail! (yes, our Side is at an apple orchard wassail tomorrow)

Been searching for a reminder of Colin Cater's tune for Pick & Malt Shovel, in ABC or midi.

I'd like to hear and view them, mostly hear. I have a tune, however am not sure I haven't used something else or made it up or or . . .

Cheers, JD

Here's a different JohnB to the above JB, who would also greatly appreciate the tune.

Thanks ro Ray, I can sing it again now. My version only differed in that it was the clergy who drank claret and burgundy wine.

Thanks again, the wonders of Mudcat eh?

Was on "Resident's Night Out," the LP produced by the Fo'csle Folk Club in Southampton MANY years ago that has only recently been reissued on CD.

Great song. I heard it some years ago and just loved it, and been trying to find the words ever since. But I've forgotten the tune! The link says adapted from a morris tune. Anyone know which one?

If you put 'Pick and The Malt Shovel in search (Too Right) R Padgett posted Roger Watson's lyric on the 31st of July '05 ! No doubt it WILL be harvested into the D T eventually .

I have suddenly forgotten this song which I have sung for years. Anyone got the lyrics. Chorus - Now the pick and the malt shovel, hand in hand,
the harvest of coal and of barley,
here's a health to the collier the brewer as well,
they arise in the morning so early
