Looking for all the words for this one;

Found a peanut, found a peanut, found a peanut late last night....

Tune;My Darling Clementine

Just remembered it last night(I was a bit hungry), and would like to be able to sing it for my pre-school classes.

We used to sing this in Brownies - not sure I can remember it all but something like:

Found a peanut
Found a peanut
Found a peanut last night
Last night I found a peanut
Found a peanut late last night

It was rotten ...

Ate it anyway...

Got a stomach/tummy ache...

Died of poison...

Went to Heaven...

(They) kicked me downstairs...

I sort of lose the plot after that -

No... wait... more happens in Heaven first:

Saw St. Peter...

He said [...???] [hate to think...]

[Then getting kicked downstairs]

Saw the Other Place ...

NOW memory really does fail me as to what happens next. Woke up? Or is that false-memory syndrome kicking in?

This on Google. Shame, I was having fun trying to bring it all back to mind. Anyway:
^^
Found a peanut, found a peanut,
Found a peanut just now / last night
Just now I found a peanut,
Found a peanut just now.

Cracked it open, cracked it open,
Cracked it open just now,
Just now I cracked it open,
Cracked it open just now.

It was rotten, it was rotten,
It was rotten just now,
Just now it was rotten,
It was rotten just now.

Ate it anyway, ate it anyway,
Ate it anyway just now,
Just now I ate it anyway,
Ate it anyway just now.

Got a stomach ache, got a stomach ache,
Got a stomach ache just now,
Just now I got a stomach ache,
Got a stomach ache just now.

Called the doctor, called the doctor,
Called the doctor just now,
Just now I called the doctor,
Called the doctor just now.

Penicillin, Penicillin,
Penicillin just now,
Just now I took Penicillin
Penicillin just now.

Operation, operation,
Operation just now,
Just now an operation,
An operation just now.

Died anyway, died anyway,
Died anyway just now,
Just now I died anyway,
Died anyway just now.

Went to heaven, went to heaven,
Went to heaven just now,
Just now I went to heaven,
Went to heaven just now.

Wouldn't take me, wouldn't take me,
Wouldn't take me just now,
Just now Heaven wouldn't take me,
Wouldn't take me just now.

Went the other way, went the other way.
Went the other way just now,
Just now I went the other way,
Went the other way just now.

Didn't want me, didn't want me,
Didn't want me just now,
Just now they didn't want me,
Didn't want me just now.

Was a dream, was a dream,
Was a dream just now,
Just now it was a dream,
Was a dream, just now.

Then I woke up, then I woke up,
Then I woke up just now,
Just now I woke up,
I woke up just now.

Found a peanut, found a peanut,
Found a peanut just now,
Just now I found a peanut,
Found a peanut just now.

Mark, if it's for pre-schoolers, you might like to take a look at some of the other words on the site I got this from, which has the wonderful title of "Mom's Minivan" and tells you assorted ways to amuse bored kids on long car trips - songs, games etc.

I learned the first verse as "Shoveling coal..." Followed by "Found a peanut..." No wonder the peanut was rotten, under all that coal. Ate it anyway? Subtext pertains to the oppressed and starving workingman. Or not. The version I learned ended in Hell: "Went to the other place..."

The first part of "Found A Peanut" that I remember is very similar to the one Bonnie posted from Google, except we sang "got a tummy ache, just now/just now I got a tummy ache/got a tummy ache just now"

I also remember the "went to heaven" verse, and then "saw St. Peter", and then a verse that was something like "He wouldn't take me, just now" and then "went the other way, just now". Of course, "the other way" meant "hell" but in those days I and other kids I knew wouldn't have dared to say the word "hell".

Btw, I learned this unison song in a Brownie or a Girl Scout troop I can't remember which one {Atlantic City, New Jersey, late 1950s}.

I'm sure there has been a thread on this before (but like most of you I can't be bothered to search for it).

The version posted from Google is pretty close to the way we sang it on the bus on the way to day camp in NYC in the late 1950s. We put a verse, "Twas successful" in between "Operation" and "Died anyway." Instead of "Wouldn't take me" we sang "Got rejected." Instead of "Didn't want me" we sang "Shovelled coal," and then ended it with "Only dreaming."

I once learned this roughly as follows (each line takes one verse):
Found a peanut.. yesterday
Where'd you find it?
In the dustbin.
What'd you do with it?
I ate it.
Got a stomach ache.
Call the doctor!
Operation!
What'd they find there?
Found a peanut...

This is quite a satisfying version because of its circular pattern. But I daresay you could adapt or merge any of the offered verses to suit your particular taste.

I learned it with appendicitis and all last nights, rather than just nows.

I'm aware that the majority of the versions of 'found a peanut' are 'just now' but when i was a child i learnt something like:
'Found a peanut, found a peanut, found a peanut yesterday,
found a peanut found a peanut found a peanut yesterday,
where'd you find it, where'd you find it, where'd you find it yesterday,
where'd you find it where'd you find it, where'd you find it yesterday,'

that's all i can remember but i think there was something about him finding it either on the ground or in a rubbish can?

I believe it was dustbin, but the rest of the song did include the bigs about surgery

I learned it as

Found a peanut x3 last night
Last night I found a peanut
Found a peanut last night.

It was rotten....
Ate it anyway....
Got a tummyache....
Called the doctor....
Went to hospital....
Operation....
Was successful....
Died anyway....
Went to Heaven....
Was rejected....
Went the other way....
Shoveled coal....
Only dreaming....

Robert Baden Powell himself posted this on YouTube, so it must be an official Scout song: The song is in The Gilwell Camp Fire Book and The Australian Boy Scouts Song Book. Didn't find it in any Girl Scout/Guide songbooks. I always thought the song was obnoxious, but then I thought that about a number of songs my sister sang....
