"The event aims to present concerts, sessions, singarounds and workshops in the fabulous setting of the North York Moors and around The Ryedale Folk Museum. There is camping available right next door to the venue but is limited so book early!!!"

Artists appearing include:

Maeve Mackinnon

Brother Crow
Phil Drane (NZ)
Les Cameron and Barbara Helen
Jane Williamson

I know there will be singarounds and workshops happening all weekend, as well as the chance to see some excellent performers. There are more details from Richard Grainger, I'm sure, but it's guaranteed to be a most enjoyable weekend in one of the best settings you could ask for.

Hope so - I've made sure people at our local clubs know about it. It should be a really enjoyable weekend with plenty of performers and activities to enjoy - but particularly well worth going to see Dave Goulder. It's a long time since he toured this area and it would be a real shame to miss him. For those who aren't familiar with him, Dave is the man who wrote 'The January Man' - just one of many fine songs he has produced over the years. He will be running a song writing workshop as well as appearing in concerts.

There are also a lot of singarounds throughout the weekend - so plenty of chances for those who want to perform themselves. And Ryedale Museum itself is a lovely venue - plenty for the kids to see besides the musical entertainment.

Pity it clashes with the Sword Spectacular in York.

There's a Folk Weekend at Helmsley Arts Centre from 10th May.

Couple of questions banjiman.... Are there many tickets left or can you show up and pay at the door?
Are many people camping and if so where at?

Hound, we couldn't get in with our caravan at Hutton le Hole, so we're at a great campsite just down the road in Rosedale Abbey.

Tel number is 01751 417272 - if you end up there, look out for the caravan flying a flag with 'Whipstaff' on it. That's us!

Hi GreytHound,

e.g Saturday Tickets for afternoon ( including Brother Crow, Wendy Arrowsmith, David Goulder etc) & evening (Maeve McKinnon, Landermason) concerts + activities for JUST £10.

Other tickets can be purchased at:
Ryedale Tickets JUST £25 for the weekend. You can buy on the door if there are any tickets left.....I understand that they are selling well.

Camping Update!

Pitches still available at Rosedale (you can play/ drink with TheLeveller!) on 01751 417272 which is about 2 miles a way (maybe we can organise sharing lifts?) but the 2 sites in Hutton-Le-Hole itself have unsurprisingly sold out.

Shaping up nicely!

A word of warning if you don't know Rosedale - if you're towing a caravan go by the bottom road and don't try to take it down Rosedale Chimney Bank, it's the steepest road in England!

Not looking too bad, Paul..

"The North and East remaining generally dry and more settled through into next weekend. Even through the rest of the bank holiday weekend and into next week the north and east will enjoy the quietest weather, although even here outbreaks of rain cannot be ruled out at times."

Well don't forget to come and say hello to us....we're playing at the "welcome" night in Farndale, together with sets on both the Saturday and Sunday afternoons...

....for those of you who remember us from our sound duties at the KFFC Winter Warmer, we're doing the sound for the Sunday night and Monday afternoon concerts in the Old Manor House....with Landermason doing sound for the Saturday night concert.

See you all there...it will be fun...

Graeme,
Brother Crow.

Brother Crow,

who's doing the sound for Friday night....or is acoustic?

The intention is to do it acoustic I believe.......we usually carry a small setup though, in case of emergencies...so if there's a lack of volume, we can sort something out on the fly...

Graeme,
Brother Crow.

Graeme,

I understand that attendance is looking very promising for Friday evening so the gig might be moved from the pub to the village hall......I assume that this is very close to the pub in Rosedale?

If I get any more detail I'll post it here.

Guests on Friday include:

Dave Goulder, Wendy Arrowsmith, Brother Crow, Les Cameron and Barbara Helen, Three Quarters, Phil Drane and Adrian O ......Room for floor spots too!   £3 or free entry with weekend ticket (£25).

Paul

Indeed, camping is available.

I've just discovered (sorry) that there is a field available right next to the Ryedale Museum......£3 per night! This was arranged slightly late on and I only got the details this morning.

If you call Jeanette on 01287 660200, she'll give you the details.

Be great to see you Leila...and anyone else without any plans for the weekend.

Paul

Good it was!

Great concerts, great weather, great venue. Plenty of informal singing and playing as well.

Good to meet Mr & Mrs Leveller (he has written some great songs!!) and swap a few songs and to catch up with lots of old friends too.

Evan the kids enjoyed it.

Well done Richard, we'll have another one next year please!

Cheers

Paul

Just got back. We had a totally brilliant weekend. Great to meet you and Wendy, Paul and also to meet Andy and Graham of Brother Crow (and all the families and dogs). Looking forward to seeing Paul and Wendy at Kirby Fleetham on 21st so if you can book us a short slot in the afternoon, that would be great.

BTW - we think Brother Crow are the next Show of Hands (yes, they really are that good!), so go and see them if they're in your area or book them for your club, and don't miss Wendy Arrowsmith - you'll be in for a real treat.

And thanks to Richard for organising a wonderful event - can't wait until next year and if we can do anything to help, let us know.

Wow, thanks guys, that's really kind of you...

We had a great weekend, enjoyed playing in our two Saturday slots in the Manor House, and the Green Hut on Sunday.

We ran PA/Sound all weekend, which though hard work, is really rewarding as you get to see all sorts of great acts. All were top notch - Richard Grainger/Chris Parkinson, Landermason, Flossie, Maeve McKinnon, Dave Goulder (lovely bloke), Wendy Arrowsmith, Barbara Helen/Les Cameron, Steve Dawes/Helen Pitt, David Swann, Bob Fortune and all the others, too many to mention...

...I MUST give a very special mention however, to the tireless Phil Drane and Adrian O. We'd never met them before, but they are top people, great performers, and now good friends.... Phil's version of "Red Barn" is a real show stopper...and Adrian in Jack Patch Scarecrow guise had all the kids chasing us shouting "shoe crows..." for best part of the weekend...

It was great to meet all the Mudcatters and...err...I think that Paul and Wendy's dog "Poacher" rather enjoyed meeting our greyhound "Bingo" a little too much !!!

All the best,
Graeme,
Brother Crow.

P.S. Don't forget that Richard Grainger & Chris Parkinson, along with Barbara Helen & Les Cameron are at The Downe Arms, Castleton on Wednesday 28th May (yes, I'll be sound engineering for the night), so if you're in the area...

Pete,

OK slot booked for 21st. Can you send your song lyrics?

Comments like "BTW - we think Brother Crow are the next Show of Hands (yes, they really are that good!)" will make them unbearable, please stop! I'll admit that they are not bad..........but I'm going no further than that!

"..err...I think that Paul and Wendy's dog "Poacher" rather enjoyed meeting our greyhound "Bingo" a little too much !!!" There was once a pub in Lincoln called The Gay Dog (now Dog & Bone)..........

Agree about the hard work Phil & Adrian put in.

I especially enjoyed jamming with Dave Goulder and Steve Dawes, sorry if we disturbed the sound checking! That Maeve can sing a bit can't she?

What an amazing weekend we had. The venue was terrific and the acts were fabulous. Richard and Jeanette have worked very hard to make this the success which it most certainly deserves.

I especially enjoyed meeting new and old friends alike. I would like to say a big thank you to Marjorie Fortune who supplied me with a sandwich on Saturday night.

Those of you who didn't come, you missed out on an amazing event. Book in advance cos next year will be even better.

I had a greyt time and I really enjoyed meeting the leveller. He was really kind to me and sat with me when my family had to leave me to do urgent stuff. I also enjoyed meeting Wendy and family (even Poacher)

I enjoyed meeting Flossie and she was really kind to me. I must apologise to Phil Drane for interupting his concert when my mum brought me in. I thought his music was really good. As my myspace friends know I am a greyhound who enjoys folk music and on Sunday and Monday I saw some amazing acts. This weekend is up there with my Cropredy experience in fact, it was even better as I did not get trod on once.

I look forward to more Festival on the Moor events that dogs can go to.

Bingo the greyhound

Many thanks to Richard and all the staff and artists. Had a really lovely weekend. The highlight for me was seeing Dave Goulder - so many great songs and a really nice bloke - but Flossie, Phil Drane and Maeve McKinnon and the rest made the whole event a treat.

Looking forward to next year's festival.

Hi Bingo. I'm The Whipstaff (whippet/staffie cross) aka Susie. My owners, theleveller and mrsleveller, have told me all about you and I really want to meet you. Unfortunately, they don't take me to many places as I tend to throw up in the car but I'll try to get them to bring me next year. It would be better than staying at home with Sam. Do you know he shut one of the cats in the utility room while he went to see the Kaiser Chiefs and she had to go to the toilet in the tumble dryer – Pete and Jools were NOT pleased.

Hope to see you soon.

PS Poacher sounds nice too – I do like you big boys!

Looking forward to next year.
