Exciting weekend of folk music and activities taking place on the 23rd-26th May 2008 in a most beautiful setting!

"The event aims to present concerts, sessions, singarounds and workshops in the fabulous setting of the North York Moors and around The Ryedale Folk Museum. There is camping available right next door to the venue but is limited so book early!!!"

Artists appearing include:

Maeve Mackinnon
Flossie
Dave Goulder
Richard Grainger and Chris Parkinson
Adrian O
Wendy Arrowsmith
Brother Crow
Phil Drane (NZ)
Les Cameron and Barbara Helen
Jane Williamson
Four Quarters

Tickets £25 excluding camping (I'll post cost of camping once I have discovered it!)

More information at: Ryedale Folk W/E MySpace with (I understand) a website imminent (again I will post the link as soon as I have it)

See you there?

I know there will be singarounds and workshops happening all weekend, as well as the chance to see some excellent performers. There are more details from Richard Grainger, I'm sure, but it's guaranteed to be a most enjoyable weekend in one of the best settings you could ask for.

Hope so - I've made sure people at our local clubs know about it. It should be a really enjoyable weekend with plenty of performers and activities to enjoy - but particularly well worth going to see Dave Goulder. It's a long time since he toured this area and it would be a real shame to miss him. For those who aren't familiar with him, Dave is the man who wrote 'The January Man' - just one of many fine songs he has produced over the years. He will be running a song writing workshop as well as appearing in concerts.

There are also a lot of singarounds throughout the weekend - so plenty of chances for those who want to perform themselves. And Ryedale Museum itself is a lovely venue - plenty for the kids to see besides the musical entertainment.

Pity it clashes with the Sword Spectacular in York.

There's a Folk Weekend at Helmsley Arts Centre from 10th May.

Couple of questions banjiman.... Are there many tickets left or can you show up and pay at the door?
Are many people camping and if so where at?

Hound, we couldn't get in with our caravan at Hutton le Hole, so we're at a great campsite just down the road in Rosedale Abbey.

Tel number is 01751 417272 - if you end up there, look out for the caravan flying a flag with 'Whipstaff' on it. That's us!

Hi GreytHound,

Tickets can be bought on the door for Friday Night concert at the Feversham Arms featuring; Wendy Arrowsmith, Brother Crow, Les Cameron & Babara Helen & Phil Drane & some of their friends (me if I'm good, but don't let that put you off!!) for £3. Free to w/e ticket holders.

e.g Saturday Tickets for afternoon ( including Brother Crow, Wendy Arrowsmith, David Goulder etc) & evening (Maeve McKinnon, Landermason) concerts + activities for JUST £10.

Other tickets can be purchased at:
Ryedale Tickets JUST £25 for the weekend. You can buy on the door if there are any tickets left.....I understand that they are selling well.

I will check out the current camping situation and let you know.

Camping Update!

Pitches still available at Rosedale (you can play/ drink with TheLeveller!) on 01751 417272 which is about 2 miles a way (maybe we can organise sharing lifts?) but the 2 sites in Hutton-Le-Hole itself have unsurprisingly sold out.

Shaping up nicely!

A word of warning if you don't know Rosedale - if you're towing a caravan go by the bottom road and don't try to take it down Rosedale Chimney Bank, it's the steepest road in England!
