Can someone advise me where I can download music for the various songs in the digitrad section in manuscript form? By this I mean in a printable form, actually showing the notes. My 7 yo daughter is currently learning the guitar and my 10 yo son the fiddle and they are both keen to learn some folk. Bob.

Yet another digital tradition should have what you are looking for.

Animaterra,
no, I have nothing to do with it. I always wondered if Yet another... is just pirating on Mudcat or has the official "go" from Mudcat. This site is on and off at irregular intervals.

I've wondered about that too; But it is handy, especially when I don't have time to enter stuff into NoteWorthy Composer...

Yes it is a great site - because it adds value to the Digital Tradition gold mine provided through the good grace of Dick, Susan and Max. My understanding from the words of the author of Yet Another... is that there is no official connection, but given the added value I don't believe that I would view this as a pirate site.

Harking back to Sappers request the question of guitar chords is still somewhat problematical though. For a single melody line I use ABCMUS (cyber Backer? routine) using the ABC notation provided by Yet Another..., but the results obtained need a degree of vetting, and of course the chords need to be then transferred manually to the lyrics or score. (BTW I actually use the downloaded version of the DT, along with the SongWright import feature in ABCMUS to fiddle about with tunes in the DT, but that's probably a topic for the more ambitious). Anyone else have any better answers?

Regards
John

Well, the easiest way may be to download the MIDI tune from the online version of the database (right-click on the link and choose to save the MIDI on your computer). Then import it into Noteworthy Composer, and you can do what you want with it. Most of the time, I do what Jon does and use ABCMUS to read the SongWright files, but that's a bit complicated for computer novices.
