Will be in or near there most of the next two weeks. Planning on Jack in the Green in Hastings but hoping for some pub/club music. All depends on vagaries of our hosts, and the plans they may have already in place. Am interested in old stuff, tolerant of a little bit of good new stuff. Seasoned is good. (As in wood, not cooking.)

There's a good folk club in Chichester on Tuesdays - well run, excellent singers, very welcoming.

Thank you both, working my way through the list of possibilities.

Hoping to make it to the folk club this Tuesday, this Saturday is our friend's 40th and there's a big family party planned,so probably won't make it out that night. What kind of music can I expect at the Tuesday venue, Saro?

Had trouble getting to the Brighton folk club link.

Very sorry to miss Martin Carthy on the 19th, been a fan for many years.

Bearheart

Had trouble getting to the Brighton folk club link.

Worked for me just now, give it another try.

It clashes with Chichester, but Martin Carthy is on at the Amberley Folk Club on Tuesday 29th April.

I believe that the Chichester Folk Club meets on Tuesday nights at a pub called "The Four Chestnuts", as Saro says it is a very well supported club, welcoming and friendly.

Yes, The Four Chestnuts, Oving Road is the place, and I think it is fairly central, not way out in the country like the previous venue. The pub has just won the area Best Pub award for 2007 from CAMRA. I believe their guest on Tuesday is Robert Brown.
If you go say hello to Marilyn from me.

Yes: Chichester Folk Club is one of the best - and I mean the best - in the whole country.

I recently looked up the Chichester Club - I noticed that the pub is called the "Four Chesnuts" -no second "t" -rather odd that!

We've had to shift our plans and will be in Tenterden Monday evening through Wednesday morning, in order to make it home for a family birthday party Wed evening.

Very disappointing since Amberley is so close and would like to catch Martin Carthy there. But planning on the Coppers at Hastings this weekend.

It's my first time to experience a folk club in England -- we're visiting from the States. It sounds from the web site like they've got someone playing a gig-- is there a singaround as well, or what? And what about the tune session? Is this how it's normally done in the clubs over here? (Sorry for my ignorance!!)
