Chorlton Arts Festival

Monday 19 May 8. 30pm
Upstairs at the Lloyds Hotel
Wilbraham Road, Chorlton, Manchester

An Evening of Folk Songs and Tunes mostly, but not exclusively, traditional.

With a collection of singers and musicians many of whom sing at the Beech on Beech Road, Chorlton, Manchester on the first Wednesday of the month.

I guess lots of people in Mudcatland have been to or heard of the Lloyds pub in Chorlton. Annie Morris ran a Folk Club there in the 80s.

Irish musicians will be playing in the bar down stairs so it will be an excellent night of Songs and Tunes

Cheers

Les

Currently juggling with the running order.

Been to see the room - it's still there and it has chairs so panic number 1 over.

Thanks Phil, that does rather spot the famous Lloyds and Platts Public House. I understand the usual Irish Session will be taking place in the bar down stairs so much music is to be had and enjoyed

Looking forward to it. I understand VA are nearly better. I intend to fortify them with stew.

I was going to see John Kelly in Swinton the same night but I'm passing up on the chance in order to support my local folkury. This is despite John's version of 'Lord Gregory' being my favourite version of a traditional song I've heard all year. Can we try and get him back to Chorlton so I can hear him play live?

Cheers

Nigel

That's very noble Nigel.

That John Kelly, he's a good man and a great singer. One day he will return to Chorlton in glory!

Cheers

Les, dispenser of glory

My "poisoned" leg is slowly on the mend so I'm looking for a one-legged soldier/sailor/pirate song!!

Should be as good a night as the previous two.
