Hey 'Catters, I received this e-mail from a gent named Alex Mitchell.Perhaps one of you can help with his request.

Thanks for any help you can give him.

Seamus

When I was a young man in the 1940's I worked in the woods and mines of British Columbia. It was there I first came across the Ballad of Dan Mcgraw, The only version I ever heard was the rude version. The only bit I remember is "there on the floor with his arse all tore laid dangerous dan mcgraw" if you know where I can get a copy I would be grateful. I am now 80 but have fantastic memories of B.C. and the Yukon, Prince Rupert in particular.

I think this what you might be looking for..... *LOL*

Danerous Dan McGrew

This is a story of downfall and shame
The end in Alaska of a very proud name

The boys were all drinking and talking of ass
Of virgins and whores and rolls in the grass.

Of fairies and cocksmen and old moby dick
Who drove the girls crazy with a wart on his prick

Now over all this commotion
In the corner sparks flew
For there on the floor, on top of a whore,
Lay Dangerous Dan McGrew.

And out of the night as black as a bitch,
And into the din and the smoke,
Came shady old prick right up from the crick,
With a rusty old load in his poke.

He rolled out his cock to display to the flock
And every asshole squirmed

He drew from his belt a big bag of gold
And laid it down with a grin

He turned to the crowd and said in a loud voice:
"I've come to give Dangerous Dan a choice.

"This gold is for pleasure and I'm here to say
"I'll spend every nickel for one damned good lay

"So here's the deal straight and neat
"That girl you're on Dan or you in the seat"

A hush still as death came o'er that place
And the only smile seen was on the face
Of that old weezened stranger named Ace

The crowd sat and waited for Dan to get through
And the matter at hand between the two

"You'll not touch the girl while I'm still on hand."
Said the stranger, "Then it's your ass Dangerous Dan."

The crowd made clearing as the circle round
Each eyeing the other but neither gave ground

The lights went out, I ducked to the floor,
And the stranger sprang in the dark.
His aim was true
And the sparks they flew
When his donnicker found its mark.

Mid might and main and screams of pain
And a man's voice was heard in the room
There were sighs and moans and farts and groans,
And three bodies lay stacked in the gloom

Then a moan of delight mingled with pain
A scream, then a moan, again and again

The crowd was astounded as the lights were lit
And showed two men locked together all covered with shit

A figure arose from the two locked together
Staggered out of the bar and into the weather
With a satisfied look on his pan.
For there on the floor,
With his asshole tore,
Lay poor old Dangerous Dan.

My father had this record but i never got to hear it. By the time i was old enough to listen to it, the record was warped beyond the ability to play it.

THE COREHOLLING OF DANGEROUS DAN McGREW

[I think that it should be CORNHOLING, 999]

A couple of boys were whooping it up in one of those Youkon halls;
While the boy handling the music box was scratching his balls.
The Faro Kid had his hand on the box of a lady known as Lou,
And there on the floor, on top of a whore, was dangerous Dan McGrew
When out of the night as black as a bitch and into the din and smoke
Came a shaky old prick right up from the crick with a rusty old load in his poke
He elbowed his way through the flea bitten crowd with his hand at the crotch of his pants
He looked like a man with a dose of the clap and the last stages of St. Vitus Dance
His britches were split and covered with spit; it looked like the white of an egg

His balls hung low and swung too and fro every time he moved a leg
His face was as red as a baboon's ass as the passion within him burned
He rolled out his cock to display to the flock, and every asshole squirmed
The lights went out. I ducked to the floor. The stranger sprang in the dark

His aim wag true and the sparks they flew as the donicker found its mark
The wind it blew and the shit it flew as I looked around the room
There were sighs and moans and farts and groans, and six bodies
Lay stacked in the gloom
The lights case on and the stranger arose with a satisfied look on his pan;

And there on the floor with his asshole tore
Lay poor old corn-holed Dan

Hi I am looking for a poem. My father use to say only part of it when I was growing up saying that he would say all of it when I came of age. But allais he passes away. He called it the legend of dan mcgrew.
This is what I remember of it:
"Took a slice at the gut and cut off a nut of the dangerous Dan Mcgrew" "Now he sits in the hall with his only ball, and dreams of days gone bye" "When he use to tittle with a cunt so brittle and wipes a tear from his eye"

Back in the early 1970s I was in the Army with an old warrant officer who had spent some time in Alaska. Here is his version of "The Ballad of Dangerous Dan McGrew":

A bunch of us lads was hoopin' up at one of the Yukon halls.
The boy who plays the music box was viciously scratching his balls.
Faro Jim had his mitts in the quim of some ol' babe name of Lou,
And there on the floor on top of a whore lay Dangerous Dan McGrew.

When out of the night as black as a bitch and into the din and smoke
Came a crusty ol' prick just up from the crick with dusty ol' load in his poke.
As he shouldered his way through the flea-bitten crowd he clutched at the crotch of his pants.
He looked like a man with a dose of the clap in last stages of St. Vitus dance.

His britches were split and covered with spit. They looked like the white of an egg.
His balls hung low. They swung to and fro each time that he moved his leg.
His face was as red as a baboon's arse and the passion within him burned.
He broke out his jock to display to the flock and everyone's arsehole squirmed.

In his tattered old clothes he was ready to hose any bitch the got in his way.
He dangled his dong in his calloused palm and screamed that he wanted to play.
The lights went out! As I ducked to the floor, the stranger sprang in the dark.
His aim was true, the sparks they flew, his donniger found its mark.

With farts and moans and blood-curdlin' groans three figures were stacked in the gloom.
With farts and moans and blood-curdlin' groans a man's shrieks filled the room.
The lights came on. The stranger arose with a satisfied look on his pan.
And there on the floor with his arsehole tore lay poor ol' cornholed Dan.

According to Paul Gifford's source, Roy Hoffmayer of Atlanta, Mich., the bawdy poem was known to lumberjacks in northern Michigan as early as 1918.

That makes sense, since Robert Service published the original version in 1907, and it quickly became popular.

YouTube once had a wonderful video of Service reciting his own poem:

but all I get now is a black screen.
