Subject: RE: Nanci Griffith Taylor Guitar - seen one? From: GUEST Date: 19 Feb 11 - 01:49 PM Taylor made 106 Nanci Griffith special edition guitars in 1996 called the NG 512 with a red burst & florentine cutaway. But a few years later she started playing a blue 612 live but always has her NG 512 along for a few songs. I don't know if Taylor actually released the blue 612 as a Nanci Griffith signature model though. |

Subject: RE: Nanci Griffith Taylor Guitar - seen one? From: Wesley S Date: 15 May 08 - 12:49 PM Taylor has NOT been bought by Gibson. Thank goodness. |
Subject: RE: Nanci Griffith Taylor Guitar - seen one? From: GUEST,Ray Date: 15 May 08 - 12:38 PM "Taylor makes many fine guitars"? I thought Taylor had been taken over by Gibson but never mind - NG was o the Transatlantic Sessions last week and although she was playing a Taylor it looked to me more like Koa than blue paint. Subject: RE: Nanci Griffith Taylor Guitar - seen one? From: Wesley S Date: 14 May 08 - 02:45 PM Sorry - That wasn't intended as a "my guitar can beat up your guitar" comment. Taylor makes many fine guitars. Some of my best friends play them. |
Subject: RE: Nanci Griffith Taylor Guitar - seen one? From: Wesley S Date: 14 May 08 - 02:42 PM I'm not a big fan of Taylor guitars - I own a couple of Collings. But the one Taylor guitar that impressed me was a Jewel signature model. It was a really nice small guitar. |
Subject: RE: Nanci Griffith Taylor Guitar - seen one? From: Greengal Date: 14 May 08 - 02:26 PM I love Nanci too. Never noticed what guitar she's played in concert, but I'm usually too far back in the crwowd to tell. But I love the sound of her guitar when she plays solo acoustic. Hmmm a Taylor you say? This may be enough to change my Martin/Gibson (& an occasional Guild) bias. Will check it out next time I'm in my big guitar store, and let you know if I find out anything about that model, though I am sure one of the Mudcats will have the info before then. . |
Subject: RE: Nanci Griffith Taylor Guitar - seen one? From: Beer Date: 14 May 08 - 11:25 AM Tex. Another thing we have in common. The Red Wings, and I also am a big fan of hers. Don't know anything about her guitar though. Beer (adrien) |
Subject: RE: Nanci Griffith Taylor Guitar - seen one? From: Ghost of Electricity (inactive) Date: 14 May 08 - 10:11 AM I've seen Nanci Griffith playing her Taylor guitar and it sounded really nice, especially when the full band wasn't playing. |
Subject: Nanci Griffith Taylor Guitar - seen one? From: GUEST,Texas Guest Date: 13 May 08 - 10:25 PM Thought you all might be able to help here: Taylor came out with a Nanci Griffith signature guitar a few years back, and I know this because back then some lady at a festival approached me after a performance and opened her guitar case to show me her new instrument. It was a Taylor - whatever model - painted a beautiful blue with a replica of Nanci's signature inlayed high on the fretboard. Well I just love Nanci Griffith and I figured I'd come across one or two as time went on, but - no luck. I have checked with a myriad of music stores and I've gone on line and come up with - zilch! Has anyone out there seen one, or do you own one - and if you own one, is it any good? Just curious. Cheers. |
