Can anyone confirm the dates please? It's listed Here as being on 05 to 07 September but it is usually the same weekend as the Bangor to Portpatrick Yacht Race which is listed here as being the previous week?

I have no info to offer, other than to suggest using the contact on their website to see if details can be had. Disconcertingly, the site is still about the 2007 event, but it is worth a try.

I imagine that the Yacht Race dates are affected by different considerations than those affecting the festival (tidal conditions for example) unless there has been a deliberate choice to have them coincide, perhaps to cause a bigger impact.

A lovely spot, Portpatrick, I must get up there again one day.

Thanks for the response. I'd checked the website but like you saw only the 2007 details and wondered whether the Email address was still valid. The two (Yacht Race and Folk Festival) have been the same weekend for several years now so I think it was intentional rather than co-incidental.

I've had it confirmed that Portpatrick Folk Festival will be 05th to 07th September this year and thus the week after the yacht race.

You're right too. Portpatrick is beatiful and (although a bit out of the way) the Festival Weekend is always worth the effort.
