Here's a treat for all you "singy crowd" and folk lorists amongst you.

"With warmth, humor and understated scholarship, Jeff Warner connects 21st century audiences with the music and everyday lives of 19th century people. He presents musical traditions from the Outer Banks fishing villages of North Carolina, to the lumber camps of the Adirondack Mountains and the whaling ports of New England. His songs have "the stamp of authority and real experience" (Tykes News, Yorkshire, UK). He has honed his craft in front of audiences across the country at festivals, museums, clubs and schools. His songs, rich in local history and a sense of place, bring us the latest news from the distant past.

"Firsthand experience, married to complete mastery of traditional [music], and allied to a natural voice and dry, understated humor in the American vein of Missourian Harry Truman and Mississippian Mark Twain." The Chronicle-Herald, Halifax, Nova Scotia "

I believe that this will be Jeff's first performance in Scotland. Give him a warm welcome and he might come back.

Above and beyond the high praise previously posted, I can add that Jeff is the consummate performer of traditional song. His vast knowledge and understanding of the folk idiom    is only surpassed by his skill and artistry in the presentation of the songs in his varied repertoire.

We here in New Hampshire have been most fortunate to have had him as a regular at the Press Room sessions for the past dozen + years.

Please make every effort to take in Jeff Warner's performance. It will be worth every effort you might have to take.

But, you can't keep him; we want him back here -- Tom hall

I saw Jeff performing at Chippenham Folk Festival last week. I knew his music previously, but must tell you that his show was absolutely stunning - the highlight of the weekend for me.
Don't miss him
Maggie

It's good to hear that Jeff's being well received and that
his shows are stunning (as ever) - give him smiles and
buy him drinks for all of us. Then tell him that he's
missed back home. (especially in the wilds of
Central New York. There's a rumor that he'll be in
Binghamton (NY) in September. I wonder if it's true)

Yeah, Pamela - Sept 20th, Cranberry Coffee House. I don't know anything more than that right now (didn't take very good notes when he was telling me about it).

But back to Scotland!
Tonight is Jeff's Glasgow show, so I'll pop this back up to the top, in case some Glaswegians out there are still uninformed. Last chance to experience Jeff Warner trying to communicate with you, in his funny North American accent!!

Any reviews appreciated....

And here's a link to some photos of that very same Edinburgh show we've been talking about:

Edinburgh Folk Club photos of Jeff Warner

Apparently, the little wooden dancing man was quite a sensation. As usual!

Thanks for the photo link, Barbara. There are some nice ones there.
Best of the little wooden dancing man, of course.
Always the star of the show!

Jeff is staying with us tonight and doing a workshop at our children's school tomorrow. Any messages for him?

He is playing at the Picking Parlour in Saltburn tonight (11th) and The Black Swan Folk Club in York tomorrow night (12th).

He has of course played our folk club (KFFC) as the opening night of his tour. We enjoyed him!

Paul

Oops, not been back here for a few days.

Glad to see all the support for Jeff here and it was a great night in Edinburgh.
While Jeff is very much the folklorist, he is also a wonderful entertainer. A great combimnation.
