Subject: Adam Miller: What do you know? From: GUEST,hg Date: 11 Jun 08 - 02:51 PM Adam Miller is coming to Florida to play and sing. I have not heard him but he comes highly recommended and I see he has posted here a few times. I'd like to hear more about him. I have to go to Taylor County to catch the show...the home of The Fenholloway River. Frank H knows him and he counts Art as one of his inspirations along with Sam Hinton. Adam Miller |

Subject: RE: Adam Miller: What do you know? From: Joe Offer Date: 12 Jun 08 - 03:58 PM Adam is a regular at San Francisco's New Year's folk music camp, Camp Harmony. I've seen him often there, but haven't gotten to know him. Apparently, he doesn't like washing dishes and mopping floors, since it's the kitchen volunteers I get to know best. He's known mostly for his performances for children, but he has a very wide repertoire of folk music. He's a nice guy, a good musician, good with kids, and he plays a mean autoharp. Good singing voice, too, with an unpretentious style. You'll like him. His Website is http://www.folksinging.org/. -Joe, retired Camp Harmony Chief Dishwasher and Floor Mopper- |
Subject: RE: Adam Miller: What do you know? From: Art Thieme Date: 12 Jun 08 - 04:27 PM I've been in touch with Mr. Miller by e-mail. He plays a rather fascinating style of autoharp that is more gentle and less raucous/percussive becuse he plays with his bare fingers.--- I enjoy it a lot. You can seriously listen, or easily read a book while Adam is on in the background. Last week I watched a Cub game with the sound turned down and his CD providing the serenity I needed rigght then. The CD I'm holding is indeed titled "Bare Fingers" and has tracks like Pete Seeger's "Living In The Country", "Planxty George Brabazon", "Marchibng Through Georgia", "The Red Haired Boy", "St. Anne's Reel", "Planxty Fanny Power", "Planxty John Irwin", "God Save The Queen", "The Yellow Rose Of Texas", and "Maria" from West Side Story. (24 tracks) I hope this helps you out! Art Thieme |
