Ok Folks it's Summer and we are heading for the Beech. Songs and tunes mostly but not exclusively traditional.

Around 8.30 The Beech, Beech Road, Chorlton, Manchester.

As I have to go off and search for other Beaches perhaps others could keep this alive for a while?

Cheers

Les of The Traveling People

Cheers

So how do you like the new identity? I got so bored with my real name...

I'll be there. See you tommorrow!

Fine pipes they were too. Thanks also to thingie, whatsit, er, that bloke, the one we hadn't seen before, John I think it was John or was it Dave, er, that other one and Nigel. (And everyone I've forgotten to mention.)

Seriously, it was a great night. Les should be kicking himself.

Thanks to all who sang and played, and welcome to Tim from Macclesfield.

Great job in hosting by Ken, and especially in persuading the bar staff to quieten down the speaker volume in the adjacent room.

See you all again next month.

Bob & Sue

One of these days I'll ask Katy about her whistle, but she played it very beautifully & some lovely singing all round the room. Top marks to Nigel for his Bellamist t-shirt...

See you September

You're all crazy. Catch me changing my screen name to some meaningless in-joke...

Meaningless? In-joke? Heaven forfend, dear boy - Insane Beard is the choicest anagram (to date) of my given name, from which Sedayne (bar the Y at least) was similarly derived many years ago.

Well folks in sounded like you all had a great time. We are still basking in the Itallian sun with much good food, wine and beer although I have to say missing a good tune and a song.

We get the Hokey Cokey at least 4 times a day. It seems to have been addopted by the mass collection of Dutch, Italian, Danish and Bekgium campers - almost trad I guess.

I will be in the Beech on the first Wednesday in August and I trust my absence will be forgiven!

Cheers
Les in an Italian accent

Glad you're having fun, Les - not sure about August as yet, but the word is Spencer the Rover's off to Paris in the new Winnebago so we'll redouble our efforts.

Winnebago, my arse, Sabrina!

It's a fine and dandy Mazda Bongo and I have my 'Bongo Fury' membership card to prove it. I've also just discovered there's a folk song and dance subgroup of the Camping and Caravanning Club... don't know whether to weep or send off my six pounds to join. Les? Les? Can you help?

Anyway, whilst you're all singing your hearts out, I'll be in windswept, raindrenched Finistere. If I don't find some wild-eyed Bretons grooving ecstatically with their hurdy gurdies and bagpipes I'll be deeply disappointed. The lovely Mrs Hamster will no doubt breathe a sigh of relief.

When I come back I'll try not to mangle any songs beyond recognition. Have a good sing in August, one and all!

Nigel

If anyone fancies a sing tomorrow evening (Weds 9th July) get yerself to the Saracen's Head in Warburton (near Lymm) for Songs in the Snug.

Hope it went well. Not sure how you'd get there from Chorlton on public transport, though - or rather how you'd get back. I'll obviously have to take the pledge!

Still making sure that you don't give the folk vigilantes a clue as to your real identity I see.

Look, I shuffle of for a few weeks and all this breaks out. Can't we just have a row about Ewan McColl's trousers?
