Anyone going? It's the same weekend as Old Songs, so we vary between the two and this year we're going to Jenny Brook.

Jenny Brook Festival

Great lineup this year and we always host marathon jams at our campsite!

So it sounds like there are no folkie/bluegrassers on Mudcat who are going to Jenny Brook. I actually often have this monologue when I bring up a bluegrass festival on this discussion site. No problem. I'm getting good at talking to myself...

You aren't talking to yourself, it's just too far for me to travel.
I'd love to come and pick 'n' sing.

It sounds wonderful and I love Vermont but my travel/vacation plans are already set for the summer. Now that I know the festival exists I'll watch for it next year.

Hi Barbara,
Being that I can not travel on Saturdays and can only go for one day on Sunday, I have to opt for Old Songs which is a lot closer to me than Vermont.

Speaking about Bluegrass, I just hosted Straight Drive, a 6 piece Bluegreass band at our Borderline house concert yesterday. They put on a fabulous show and really thrilled the audience.

Regards
SOL

Nice to know I'm not just talking to myself, although I was hoping to find some lurking mudcat bluegrasser who might be going to Jenny Brook.

Hi Sol - I know you enjoy bluegrass and I'm glad your house concert went well.

I'd probably go if not for Old Songs, It's just down the road from me.
Do you go to the Basin BBfestival in Brandon?

Sandy

We usually go to Old Songs, but went to Jenny Brook last year after an absence of several years. Had great jams all weekend and then clinched the decision to return when we saw the lineup. Dan Tyminski's band -keeping busy while Alison Krauss is off with Robert Plante- and Dan Paisley -one of the very best bluegrass singers and a really nice guy who may still sell appliances for Sears when he's not making amazing music- these decided us.

Jenny Brook actually sold out camping last year, which I think was a first for them. It's not that large, and it's very down-home.

We went to Brandon several years ago and had a good time, but haven't been back. It's always the weekend right before Grey Fox, which we definitely go to every year. Brandon has a large old-time country music element, which is a nice change of pace, and some very nice folks, good atmosphere, etc. Just can't stay away from home 2 weekends in a row too often.

But we do miss Old Songs and will be back...
