If anybody is around the Ormskirk area in West Lancashire this weekend then there will be a couple of things going on in connection with the Community Rail Partnership to raise awareness of the local railway stations.

On Saturday 5th July at the Railway Tavern at Hoscar near Ormskirk there is an afternoon featuring an exhibition of Railwayana, a concert/singaround with Geoff Higginbottom, and myself and Chris Harvey doing our railway song hour plus anybody else who cares to attend. Geoff has to go at 1:50 as he has to catch the train to Southport to entertain them on the train and at Southport station.
This is from 12 till 4 and there will be a barbecue (inside or out depending on the weather!)

The address of the Railway Tavern is Hoscar Moss Road, Lathom, Lancashire, L40 4BQ. Tel 01704 892369

Email me - mark@markdowding.co.uk for more details about this one.

On Sunday 6th July there are similar events going on along the Ormskirk to Preston Line with Pete Rimmer and Kevin Bargen providing the entertainment on the trains.

Hopefully we'll see one or two of you there on Saturday.

Cheers
Mark

I live 8 miles from and I had no idea it even existed. For those like me who need geographical assistance, here is a map

Might even venture over myself, if I can master the directions -- its wild Lancashire country out there.

I also live close to Ormskirk and had absolutely no idea about this. It wasn't even mentioned at the Bothy FC in Southport last Sunday. I might well try and get there......but it's not easy on the train from Crosby!   And I might be severely hung over coz it's my leaving do tonight!

If I do make it, I could sing/play there and/or with Chris on the train back to Southport. If required.

Steve

It's not well known about because it's not been well advertised by the organisers further than the station areas. I only know about it because it's being held at my local amongst other places and the landlady asked if I could do a bit on the day.
Steve - Chris has moved from Southport now - he's over Chorley way!
It's only Geoff Higginbottom that's on the train. The rest of us are in the pub (which does a good selection of proper beer by the way - Black Sheep, Bombardier, Spitfire, Tetley cask)

If you want to come then it's along the A5209, turn left or right into Ring o Bells lane near the Total garage depending which way your coming from either Ormskirk or the M6 and follow the road down to Hoscar station which is signposted on the A5209)The pub is right next to the station

Cheers
Mark
