Subject: Tech: 78 RPM Record needles in Ireland From: Fred McCormick Date: 22 Jul 08 - 05:10 AM I've just received an enquiry about suppliers of 78 RPM needles from somebody living in Ireland, who needs them urgently for a project they're working on. I live in the UK, and can order them from a supplier over here. But I'm wondering if there might be anybody selling them in Ireland. Many thanks for any help. |

Subject: RE: Tech: 78 RPM Record needles in Ireland From: Geoff Wallis Date: 22 Jul 08 - 11:34 AM Sorry, Fred, That link didn't work. Check eBay under 'collectibles', then 'radio/television/telephony', then 'phonographs and gramophones'. Alternatively, there's an eBay store called Gramophone Springs. |
Subject: RE: Tech: 78 RPM Record needles in Ireland From: Thomas Stern Date: 22 Jul 08 - 07:35 PM steel needles are available from many suppliers, some listed below. HOWEVER - if you are planning to transfer 78's, and/or are concerned about preserving them, I suggest using a modern cartridge fitted with a diamond stylus of the appropriate dimensions - depending on the age and condition of the recording.
