Subject: RE: Morris Dancing hits a new high (or low) From: Leadfingers Date: 22 Jul 08 - 11:51 AM That reminds me of the time the dancers at York Steps in Sidders got rained off and came and danced in The Newt ¬ We were asked if we could play The Can Can from Orpheus , which we did and saw probably the most sedate Can Can in history !! ALL the High Kicks from the ladies , but their Costume included Knee Length Bloomers !!!! |

Subject: RE: Morris Dancing hits a new high (or low) From: pavane Date: 23 Jul 08 - 07:50 AM Reminds me of the Lemming Morris in Dubai, where Bonny Green Off led straight into the swimming pool (Needed too, when dancing in 110 degrees F, or around 44C in new money) |
Subject: RE: Morris Dancing hits a new high (or low) From: Wyrd Sister Date: 23 Jul 08 - 08:12 AM Dave, do you not have work to do? Tapes to edit? Has Kraft syndrome set in? Or are you just going going for the 'most-threads-with-same-link' record? I've already wasted an hour on this site this morning, damn you! (I particularly like the narrowboat chase, the Cockney slang, the random accent checks...) |

Subject: RE: Morris Dancing hits a new high (or low) From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 23 Jul 08 - 11:10 AM Wonderful! Thanks for posting. The Morris article was rivetting and I was most interested in the police accent checks and the canal-boat chase. Speaking of accents, I was once on vacation in Scotland, and was on the phone to a rental car agency. I would speak a sentence, and the agent would wait for a long time before replying. It turned out that he was trying to figure out whether my Wisconsin accent was British or not - they only rented to UK nationals. Finally he had to ask me. |
Subject: RE: Morris Dancing hits a new high (or low) From: Folkiedave Date: 23 Jul 08 - 11:49 AM Sorry for the multiple postings. My mother said I might eventually go daft one day - I think it has started. Currently editing a festival special becuase I am away this summer. Trying to do some of the artists I haven't played much. Finishes with Kepa Junkera - after a lifetime of seeing and hearing remarkable musicians and I do consider myself very fortunate - he is still the best. I wonder how the classicists would have gone on this year with him and one of his big bands on the Proms. |
