Subject: RE: Queen Maeve Summer School From: Fliss Date: 25 Jul 08 - 04:24 AM Sounds wonderful... I visited County Sligo with my friend Sligo fiddle player Anne-Marie McGowan a few years ago. She took me to the Coleman Centre in Gorteen and we played in local pub sessions in the village. We went into the art centre in Sligo town. Bought one of Carmel Gunning's CDs while I was at the COleman Centre. I like her version of 'Lakes of Sligo'. Hope the Summer school is a great success. If Ann-Marie is there do give her my love. Subject: RE: Queen Maeve Summer School From: Fred McCormick Date: 25 Jul 08 - 02:00 PM Maeve, You are quite welcome to attend, but not if you bring Cuchullan and Ferdea. They always start fighting those two. |
Subject: RE: Queen Maeve Summer School From: maeve Date: 26 Jul 08 - 04:32 AM Thank you indeed, Fred McCormick. Cuchullan and Ferdea both are busy enough fighting mosquitoes and blackflies that this is at present a peaceful kingdom. Would that I could join you! Make some beautiful music together over there! Subject: RE: Queen Maeve Summer School From: Fred McCormick Date: 26 Jul 08 - 05:46 AM Glad to hear that Cuchullan and Ferdea are fighting off the mosquitoes and blackflies. I heard a folk version of the Tower of Babel story in Connemara one time, that construction of the tower was abandoned, not because of all the different languages, but because of the midges. The clicky still doesn't work, but anyone cutting and pasting www.carmelgunning.com will get there. The site I mean, not the summer school. |

Subject: RE: Queen Maeve Summer School From: Fred McCormick Date: 26 Jul 08 - 06:52 AM Well, you'll get the information about the school from there all right, but that's her old website. There's soundclips and all kinds of stuff on the new one. Still at least the link works. |
Subject: RE: Queen Maeve Summer School From: maeve Date: 26 Jul 08 - 07:08 AM The new site isn't functional as you noted , but this is another information link. I hope this is helpful. Another link with information. |
Subject: RE: Queen Maeve Summer School From: Fred McCormick Date: 26 Jul 08 - 07:32 AM Hey cool. I'm mentioned in it :-). |
Subject: RE: Queen Maeve Summer School From: maeve Date: 26 Jul 08 - 07:40 AM You're famous! I hope there's a good turnout for the Queen Maeve Summer School events. |
