We are proud to announce that this year's major event will be held in the beautiful village of Osmotherley where there will be a full programme of Folk Music & Dance Events throughout the weekend.

Guests so far booked include Gordon Tyrall, Richard Grainger & Chris Parkinson, Steve Dawes & Helen Pitt, Wendy Arrowsmith, David Swann, Essex- based super group Mawkin, young Singer - Songwriter Lucy Ward - winner of last years Song Competition, Barbara Helen, Tyneside- based A-Drift , Graham Brotton and many more......

There's something for everyone with Workshops, Singarounds, Musicians Sessions and Concerts. The weekend ticket is only £25 and concert tickets available from as little as £5. It is the policy of Festival on the Moor to keep its ticket prices low and artistic content high. And,as usual, expect to see some rare and unusual talent as well as firm favourites.

It all kicks off with a welcome concert at Osmotherley Village Hall on Aug 29th. This will feature Richard Grainger & Chris Parkinson - two of the best known British folk musicians around.

Also watch out for the Local Producers Arts & Crafts Fair on Saturday as well as face -painting, storytelling and family fun. A great weekend is in store.

Anyone fancy it? Clearly we'll be there...... for our first gig with the new line-up of Blind Summat! complete with fiddler and extra guitarist, 1.30pm on Sunday opening the Mawkin gig . Wendy has a solo slot on Friday evening as well.

I've already ordered our tickets. Try to keep us away! Spoke online to David Delarre of Mawkin and they're looking forward to it although they haven't had any info yet about exactly what's happening.

If this is half as good as Ryedale, it'll be brilliant - although I suspect it could be even better!

According to the draft programme (which I would think is subject to change) they will be on in The Queen Catherine pub during events that start at 1pm & 9pm on Saturday, though I haven't seen detailed running orders for these sessions yet.

I saw this on the web and I though "Looks Great". Then I realised it clashes with the Autumn Black Bull bender which is a great pity.

I will probably spend most of the weekend at the Bender, but I am very tempted to go to the musicians session on Saturday afternoon.

Don't know yet. We were going to travel (it's less than 15 miles from us) but as we've missed this weekend we'll check if the site at Osmotherley will take tents and come for the whole weekend if we can.

Jools is sat in the conservatory practicing as I speak. Maybe I should do the same (as we're on holiday but everything's been cancelled because of the weather).

Mawkin should be great but I warn you, they do like the odd bevvy and staying up all night in sessions.

It was very good - we had a fantastic time, with great performers, workshops, singarounds (organised and otherwise) and very interesting spot of dancing on Saturday night. Plus, we drank far too much beer.

Seems that Jools and I have a hex on Mawkin - every time we meet them David breaks strings. It happened at Cambridge and on Sunday he broke three - one at the workshop and two at the afternoon concert. Dave promptly banned us from going to any more of their gigs and only relented when I promised to leave him my guitar in my will (after watching him play it earlier, I almost gave it to him on the spot!).

Great weekend and a big thanks to Richard, Jeanette and all the other organisers. Looking forward to next year.

What a weekend it was.

Lucy Ward - what a voice and so nice too. Even danced the ceildh with me for a while. Look out for her in coming months. Richard what a find in her.

Mawkin so good and oh soo young.. I felt quite old watching them.

I enjoyed Gordon Tyrell as I had never seen him before and what playing. I really loved the song a single Step will lead to a fall.

Well, Leveller the leg is ever so slightly painful, I am still hobbling around. Sorry I never got chance to say goodbye.
