Subject: RE: DickMiles Alihies,CoCork Aug 8,2008 From: GUEST,guy Wolff On Lap top Date: 10 Aug 08 - 05:48 PM Dick I love your music a lot . I just found you yesterday on Youtube .. I did a video response to your version of the Coppers song Adieu Sweet Lovely Nancy for the fun of accompanying it with Anglo concertina .. I wish I had as clean a voice as yours .To much pottery clay in the old lungs .. HA . All the best , Guy Wolff litchfield ct usa |

Subject: RE: DickMiles Alihies,CoCork Aug 8,2008 From: The Sandman Date: 11 Aug 08 - 07:03 AM thanks Guy here is what I do on this accompaniment. I use two different approaches,I play the melody with added chord notes,I alternate this, with playing a chordal accompaniment, that doesnt use the melody, occassionally the player can substitute an a7 chord, with an E and a higher B,a two note e modal chord[no third note],or it could be considered still part of the original a major chord, but just playing the fifth note of the chord E,with the added 9 [B]http://www.dickmiles.com . |
Subject: RE: Dick Miles, Alihies, Co Cork, Aug 8, 2008 From: GUEST Date: 11 Aug 08 - 09:56 AM Thanks Dick for the note.. I will have to pull out the old wheatstone and follow your fingers around for the fun of it . Your playing is so gentle and just the right dememtion for the song ! .It shows years of work. I do love sus 4's and Sus2's . I remember in the early 70's showing some friends here in the USA folk scene an early Waterson's record or it may have been a young tradions and one of them asked. "Was that last song in major or minor? " . Thats how far away from a third they got !!! Below is the friendly response I made on Youtube to try anglo instead of English as back up .It is there only from enjoying your wonderful performance . . All the very best , Guy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqLaiMqrHgY |
