We are in the process of organising a new folk festival for 2009 at Moira Furnace in North West Leicestershire. It should hopefully be the first weekend in September. It's very early days yet as we've only had our second meeting, but I thought I'd let you know in advance. I shall keep the thread updated whenever there's anything to update it with

Good Luck with this Lynne. I think it might clash with Wareham for us but hopefully will prove brilliant for N W Leics.

It may not next year Cats. It wouldn't have clashed this year as Wareham is the weekend before that. The trouble is, of course, that it's hard if not impossible to find a weekend that doesn't clash with something else.

For those who like smallish festivals without big names at a reasonable cost this is a good one. Lots of talent and a good family atmosphere. If the weather turns out like last year it could be the best weekend of the summer! Check out the website http://www.moirafurnacefolkfestival.co.uk/

We'll definitely be at Moira, wouldn't miss it for the world as it's just lovely!!! We're thinking of heading up to Whitby afterwards to grab Max during his Great UK Adventure. I've not been to Whitby week myself so perhaps this is my chance....

whoa... gonna be an interesting summer.

after on the tail end or Sidmouth festival, quick nip over to Sawansea for the step daughter's handfasting, then home for about 4 days... then up to Lake district with the step son for about 4 or 5 days, then on the way home a stop off at Moira....

Sadly, Whitby is on the wrong side of the going home from Moira trip. Damnit! These festivals are too close together chronologically and too far aprt geographically.

I VOTE WE EXTEND THE SUMMER AND SPACE THEM FURTHER APART.
