Has anyone been to Burnham-on-Sea Folkfest in Somerset before?

Any highspots / pitfalls to watch out for?

I'm going for the first time this year

been to both previous fests
[and earlier years small scale sunday afternoon park festivals]
and definitely travelling to this one and staying for the weekend again.
This free festival has become me and the wifes favourite annual event !
The Saturday all dayer is basicly a very enjoyable 12 hour pub crawl trial of stamina and endurance..
Its a small seaside town.
and all the pub venues are within a few minutes walking distance of each other.
The gigs are very well organized, and the sound system PA's
are good professional standard and appropriate size and volume level for each venue.
Variety and quality of the perfomers has so far been excellent.

Sadly one of the best old pubs has been demolished for redevelopment since last year.
but hopefully Thatchers proper drought real cider is still on sale at one of the pubs on the sea front,
and Rich's drought cider at the Ritz Club.
Oh.. and if you like beer instead.. its a good town for real ale lovers.
the Sunday afternoon gig in the park is a fine family event,
but so far me and the mrs have been too hung over to manage get there
in time for the first couple of hours performances..
As for the Friday night gig.. cant say..
cuz we've never been to it.
Oh yeah.. the potato wedges from the kebab shop are great for lining the stomach
before you attempt surviving all of Saturdays temptations..

taking the liberty to keep this thread alive..

anyone else want to discover how good this free 'folk' fest is..?

"2008 FOLKFEST will be taking place from Friday 29th August to Sunday 31st August."

well worth making the effort to travel down to South West seaside
on a drizzly grey August weekend..!!!???..

.. though, i can understand if local Somerset community folk
might hope to keep this cool event quietly to themselves
and under the radar of corporate 'lifestyle' festival media hype...

Hi punkfolkrocker - still just you and me

If your ID reflects your taste in music could I recommend Saturday night at the Dunstan House Hotel - Norcsalordie are there and their singer Paul used to front a punk band. Now converted to Folk Music the old fire still burns brightly

Cheers
