Subject: RE: Roots North 26th-28th Sept, North Yorks From: theleveller Date: 28 Sep 08 - 03:26 PM Just got back and it was a fantastic weekend - great town, excellent weather and some amazing and extremely varied music. Too many highlights to mention them all but, especially brilliant was Lucy Ward who did three wonderful, emotionally-charged sets (she really is a star of the future and would be a worthy winner of the Young Folk Musician of the Year Competition) and also the amazing virtuosity of Landermason, a superbly radical set from Gordon Tyrell and the brilliant songs and musicianship of Richard Grainger and Chris Parkinson - in fact, there wasn't a mediocre act all weekend. Plus we did an Africaqn drumming and a ukelele workshop - Phew, got to go and sit down in a dark room and calm down. Thanks to Richard and Jeanette and Adrian O for making it such a magical and friendly weekend - can't wait for Ryedale. |
