Subject: Tech: Problem With Google Chrome Beta From: topical tom Date: 15 Sep 08 - 01:53 PM I recently installed Google Chrome Beta on my computer. Although I am so far satisfied with it for the most part, I find that I am unable to make a blue clicky with it as it does not allow for pasting of the url into the address bar.Has anyone else experienced this and, if so, were you able to remedy it, and how? |
Subject: RE: Tech: Problem With Google Chrome Beta From: Bill D Date: 15 Sep 08 - 02:41 PM hmmm.. I just did it. I copied the URL from Firefox, pasted it into Chrome, hit 'enter' and came here. I am not sure how this 'makes' a blue clicky, though. You do that in other ways. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Problem With Google Chrome Beta From: topical tom Date: 15 Sep 08 - 02:47 PM I was not specific enough.I was actually trying to make a blue clicky from utube.By highlighting the url I was able to copy it but when I had to paste it into the Link URL, was unable to do so. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Problem With Google Chrome Beta From: Bill D Date: 15 Sep 08 - 02:54 PM same answer here. I went here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SN4HZPXwJQ in YouTube, copied the address and pasted it into Chrome... sometimes pasting just 'doesn't work',,,in ANY browser. It might be a clipboard problem....or *shrug* The answer is always, 'try it 3-4 times with different inputs'... Computers sometimes just play with us... |
Subject: RE: Tech: Problem With Google Chrome Beta From: topical tom Date: 15 Sep 08 - 03:11 PM Bill D: As so often happens on the computer,I kept fiddling and clicking and, to my amazement, found the answer:you have to left-click in the Link URL space and THEN you can paste in the address.Who knew? Thanks for responding to my thread. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Problem With Google Chrome Beta From: GEST Date: 15 Sep 08 - 10:24 PM I solved all my Google Chrome problems by dumping the browser after testing it for two days. The only thing I liked about it was the bookmark feature. The browser itself was slower than FireFox and frequently would not go to linked pages even after clicking on a link three and four times. It also refused to play MIDI files without taking me to an off-site QuickTime player. The Chrome browser wanted to do things its way instead of my way, so I deleted it and wrote all my complaints to Google on the form which popped up after deletion. |

Subject: RE: Tech: Problem With Google Chrome Beta From: katlaughing Date: 15 Sep 08 - 11:49 PM Just for fun: We have 21 threads with "blue clicky" in the title. The FIRST ONE was posted by Rick Fielding in which he apologises for coining the term. Oh, and Kevin McGrath even wrote a song about it: Blue Clicky Thing and, if memory serves, it is included on the Mudcat CDs.:-) |
Subject: RE: Tech: Problem With Google Chrome Beta From: GUEST Date: 16 Sep 08 - 09:02 AM My problem with Chrome is that it does not open Adobe Acrobat Reader documents properly, at least fro the free v9 that I have. While were, complaining--Re Mozilla v3., I had to unistall it...waaaay too slow. I found v2 from a third party site, reinstalled it, and I'm as happy as a free range chicken. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Problem With Google Chrome Beta From: olddude Date: 16 Sep 08 - 09:31 AM suggestion, Beta launch for any vendor is to give the vendor the ability to have their user base debug it for them. It is always unwise unless the need is absolutely clear in regard to benefit/ risks . Great way to get problems with your machine |
