Well the progs are out, and there's a big rush on the tickets for the sunday concert i hear... looking good for sat too, and the sinarounds on fri have many promises of attendance... praps someone who can could make a blue clicky for it, i'm on clockwork email... the barden of england & pete collins have their popular sinarounds and playarounds, and bo & i will be sessioning in the woolpack sat lunchtime & eve... not to mention travelling folk & bob & Kathy on sunday... grab a prog & see for yourself!

There will be a bigger-than-ever selection of traditional folk music, song and dance from across the world, pub sing-a-rounds, sea shanties, morris dancers, mummers, clog dancers, chimney sweeps and hobby horses, along with craft fairs and displays.

Rail Yard site is best. You need to book. You will be fine with 4*4 and can subsidise weekend by towing people out!

If you go to the out of town campsite it is a PITA - the bus in is too early, you cannot carry all the bottles of beer you will drink so the drinking cost increases (alternatively, you drive in and have to stay sober) you can't get back to the site for lunch so you have to buy an overpriced lunch in a gastropub, bus timetables are works of fiction, and you have to watch your watch like a hawk to avoid missing the last bus back and it's a sodding long walk.

Go "Central Camping". It was nearly empty last year, more fool me for finishing up by two people with two large, noisy, and aggressive Airedale terriers.

I had the same problem last year when I was thinking about camping. Apparently there was information on a flyer, but not the normal festival flyer. I would have preferred easier access to the info. Fraid I don't have the info this year either.....

Spare Parts (Bryan Creer, Suzanne Higgins and Valmai Goodyear) will be running a part-playing sessions for all concertina systems at the Tenterden Folk Festival. It will be in the White Horse Saddlery from 3:00 till 4:30 on Sunday 5th October 2008.

The music can be found on our website http://www.sparepartsband.co.uk/SPTunes.php. It's in .pdf (printable) and midi (audio) form. I can also send you a printed copy if you let me know your postal address.

We will also be leading a session in the White Horse on the same day from 11:00 onwards.

The wind also (not the flatulence) was making the earth move!

Several nice sings with the B. But one of us is a bad influence on the other (not sure which) as Friday night ended at about 0230 AM Sat amongst wine and smelly cheese, and both of us were a bit green for the fried breakfast at 10.15 am. It ain't the same without the 8 Bells.

An excellent festival! There was enough dry weather on Saturday for a good turn-out of dancers, and very splendid they looked decorating the High Street.

Cracking performances from The Claque, the Askew Sisters and Mawkin (couldn't get to hear everybody because of being on duty some of the time).

It's good news that the Tenterden Club has already been booked for the duration next year. Glory be, it has Harveys Best Bitter. Not that this would influence me in the slightest.

I'm going to add another name, Tony Carling. Singer songwriter. Not what I was expecting at Tenterden, but I'm glad Alan booked him and I really enjoyed his set, and I'd like to see and hear more. Great sense of humour and fun, but thought provoking, sometimes taking you in a direction you weren't expecting! If you go onto his website y www.tonycarling.co.uk (hope the blue clicky thing has worked, my first time)you'll see what I mean. Read the story of his early years - when you've read it, you'll see why I say "story" and not auto-biography, and you'll get the feeling of his sense of humour as well.

Yes - here's my penn'orth.....

This year was the best yet for my money - All the venues and events were full and vibrant! The bill was particularly sharp this year, everybody that was on was someone I'd travel miles to see without a second thought:- The Claque, The Askews, Doug Eunson & Sarah Matthews, Mawkin, Jim Bainbridge, Tom Moore & Archie Churchill Moss (latter were in great form)and the list goes on. I really enjoyed Mr Carlin too! I even had a warble myself and with Sylvia Needham. Many thanks to Alan and the team for an absolutely splendid and thrilling weekend! Looking forward to next year already!
