Subject: Verse in Donald Wheres yer troosers?
From: GUEST,Thomas

Hello. Does anyone know where this verse came from:

Well I caught a cold and me nose was raw
I had no handkerchief at all
So I hiked up my kilt and I gave it a blow,
Now you can't do that with troosers.

It is not in the Andy Stewart orignial, and I can't guess who wrote it.
As one can see, it does not have the same metre as the original verses, so I guess someone not-to-musical wrote this.

It doesn't scan precisely, but it seems fine idiomatically.

Copied from another thread:
I just come down from the Isle of Skye
I'm no very big but I'm awfly shy
All the lassies shout as I walk by
"Donald, Where's your troosers

Let the wind blow hish and the wind blow low
Through the streets in my kilt I go
All the lassies say "Hello!
Donald, where's your troosers"

I went to a fancy ball
It was slippery in the hall
I was afeared that I might fall
Because I nay had troosers

I went down to London town
To have a little fun in the underground
All the lassies turned their heads around, saying,
"Donald, where's your trousers?"

The lassies love me every one
Let them catch me if they can
You canna put the brakes on a highland man, saying,
"Donald, whre's your troosers.

There does not appear a standard to the scansion anywhere!

Cheers
Nigel

Jack Orion was as good fiddler
As any fiddled on a string
And he could make young woman wild
With the tunes that he could play

Ring a bell?
