The Mary Black recording is on the compilation album The Loving Time, and also on the 1993 Mary Black album The Holy Ground. The CD booklet says the songwriter is Noel Brazil, who wrote a number of the songs on this album. I added songwriter attribution to Bonnie's post.

Sounds like C, F, G in the stanzas.

The bridgy thing sounds like C, Dm or Am, F, G

My apologies. When I said Dm or Am, it's because I am not sure which without a guitar in my hands. My old ear ain't what it used to be (and never was).
