Subject: Uk Listings From: GUEST,folkandroots Uk Date: 09 Nov 08 - 08:05 AM Firstly apologies if this is inappropriate, but we are just updating our events listings for 2009, and hopefully updated/correcting our venues listings and if any of the fine visitors to this place know of any additions, events etc please drop us a line via our main site. www.folkandroots.co.uk Again many apologies if this is inappropriate. |

Subject: RE: Uk Listings From: Suegorgeous Date: 09 Nov 08 - 04:14 PM Indeed! Just a thought on looking at the F&R website though - would it be possible for F&R to start a section on Courses/Workshops? it would be so fantastic to have that resource, instead of having to google/surf all the time for them. (Particularly folk singing/voice - but then I'm biased!) I know of no site that lists UK folk course/workshops - or does anyone else know? |
Subject: RE: Uk Listings From: GUEST Date: 10 Nov 08 - 11:17 AM Thanks for the suggestion Sue, and a very good one, I'll a page this evening with links to the regular courses/workshops I am aware of, any other suggestions would be gratefully received. |
Subject: RE: Uk Listings From: Rasener Date: 10 Nov 08 - 11:27 AM Thanks for changing Faldingworth Live's details. Les Worrall |
Subject: RE: Uk Listings From: GUEST Date: 16 Nov 08 - 07:55 AM Just a one off refresh (as I know this can be annoying to regular users), if anyone else has any further 2009 listings or info on workshops we would be more than happy to include said details on our site. |
Subject: RE: Uk Listings From: Liz the Squeak Date: 16 Nov 08 - 07:59 AM Here's an idea Guest, why not join up and update us regularly? Most people only get annoyed when anonymous Guests post. Once you've joined (and it's free!) then you won't get flamed. LTS |
Subject: RE: Uk Listings From: VirginiaTam Date: 16 Nov 08 - 08:34 AM Right on LTS and Suegorgeous. Guest - There is already a What's On: Who's Performing Where?" thread with events updated randomly as people remember to use it. Typically we just start a new thread for new events or refresh old threads for recurring events. It is an easy way to follow changes in programmes, dates, venues, etc. which doesn't require us to write code. Hmmmm I wonder... That could be a prefix added to the Mudcat database, couldn't it? Nah! It takes people actually selecting the prefix, doesn't it? I suppose you could start a Mudcat thread with link to Folk and Roots. Then refresh your Mudcat thread everytime you update the F&R site. You might pm Joe Offer for some advice too. Good luck! |
Subject: RE: Uk Listings From: VirginiaTam Date: 17 Nov 08 - 05:19 AM refresh... just because |
Subject: RE: Uk Listings From: Fidjit Date: 18 Nov 08 - 04:21 AM Any chance of overseas Brits being added to your lists? Chas |
Subject: RE: Uk Listings From: Mr Red Date: 18 Nov 08 - 04:39 AM Swedish Morris Sides? See ya at Cheltenham maybe - Chas. Just submitted one event. And requested a return/courtesy link - I have linked to F&R for years from cresby.com Some organisers prefer not to have a Mudcat identity to avoid the PMs and some with good reason. (you know who they are). |
Subject: RE: Uk Listings From: GUEST,GUEST,folkandroots Uk Date: 18 Nov 08 - 07:30 AM Chas By all means email me any link and it will be added in a few days, Mr Red, many apologies I thought (genuinely) I had linked back to you, I'll add the event you mention and your link in the next update. |
Subject: RE: Uk Listings From: BusyBee Paul Date: 18 Nov 08 - 07:56 AM Gainsborough's dates submitted!. |
Subject: RE: Uk Listings From: GUEST,Cas Casbar Date: 18 Nov 08 - 07:58 AM If anyone is looking for a simple comprehensive listing of most of the folk related events across South Wales for the next few months go to my web site www.casbar.co.uk which exists only to communicate such events and lead you to the addresses & web sites of venues and organisers in this area. I update frequently and am happy to include folk relevant gigs free. I prefer to be given dates well in advance. I also email the list out to about 70 people. |
Subject: RE: Uk Listings From: VirginiaTam Date: 18 Nov 08 - 09:21 AM I think what we all want and need is a one stop shop for all events, sessions, concerts, workshops that encompasses all of UK and even beyond. I remember fervently searching for sing around sessions in Cornwall for summer 07 holiday and again for few days break in Lake District August past. I even looked for sessions in Georgia and Florida last June/July. Naming conventions for posting events need to be considered too. For example the name of a pub or club means nothing to those not familiar. But add the town, city, village and county or state, then it makes it a lot easier to find. I wish Catters would use the What's On prefix more often. For example SUBJECT What's On: Monthly session, Blackmore in Exile, Rose & Crown, Writtle DETAILS Event: Monthly session Club: Blackmore in Exile Venue: Rose and Crown, 57 The Green, Writtle, Chelmsford, CM1 3DT Start time: 8.30pm Singers and Musicians and the merely interested - you are invited to join the Blackmore in Exile session every 1st Thursday of the month in the upstairs function room. This thread will be updated when we have special guests, theme nights, etc. Questions? Post them here or PM me. See how easy that is? You can put in as much detail as needed in first post, but the subject says enough to help reader make a decision on whether or not to enter the thread and find out more. |
