Hi Just wanted to say thanks for all the hard work that goes on so we can bitch moan argue and generaly have fun on the cat.
I have missed it afew times lately when there have been tech troubles
and find it such agreat resource for finding music and staying in touch with freinds.
I dunno how it all works ,but I know someone keeps it going .
For that I am very grateful.
SO thank you whoever you are and have a safe, happy, and musical Holiday.
May your god bless you and go with you.

me too. Mudcat is my home page & where would I be without it? Hiccups in service & small absences are ok (I CAN survive!) but if it didn't exist ...

Thanks Max & Joe & clones & everyone

Same here...   Love this knowledge space so I really could spend hours just reading here.

Mudcat down times push me to practice my instruments and learn new songs to sing. So it is all good.

Yea - you know who your friends are when they are not there.

It's been tough these last few days. I've had to survive on ceilidhs, French and Swedish dancing and Folk Clubs. And are they enough?

My fingers hurt. I blame Mudcat breaking down and Richard Bridge.

Been practising all yesterday morning this afternoon on the mandolin RB loaned to me.

Ouch

As a newb to the site and to singing folk song in general, I've experienced a great deal of friendly camraderie and some really detailed and valuable advice here. I've made some excellent contacts online in the past on different lists for different interests. But I've found this site, is unusually embracing and interesting. It's intelligent, sometimes very funny, and kinda pastoral.

There are no doubt some interpersonal squabbles, but overall the differences of opinion seem to be managed with good humour and intelligence. A very difficult thing to sustain on any forum, especially one with such high volume postings from everywhere, and one that allows words like fuck, shit, errr, do I dare the 'c' word.. heh, nah. You get the drift.

Not only onlist, but in particular I've also had some superb unexpected detailed advice, friendly banter and offers of real-world support via PM's from several of the regulars here.

A very entertaining, informative and embracing online community.
Coolio. Hope to flesh out some of the onlist ID's in the not too distant.

This forum has been a great source of Folk musical knowledge for me and I enjoy a bit of BS too.. I would like to personally thank all those involved in keeping it running, also encourage them in the censoring which I believe they do sensitively and adequately.
Best wishes, Mike.

I highly recommend this thread for details pertinent to this discussion. It addresses some of the whys of recent 'down' time and offers information on the inner workings of the wonder that is our beloved Mudcat.

I have met loads of decent honest music lovers through Mudcat
Like GEorgian Silver.
He is a realy nice guy(if sexest),and not stingy withhis support and kind words to some of us lesser performers either.
And do you know if you go to Gainsbro FC or Faldingworth live you can meet him amd Backwoodsman and sooz and villan and.......
TA.
Mudcat is a great idea.

I'll drink to that!

Yesterday I received my copy of Keith McKenry's new book "Australia's lost folk songs" and was pleased to see among the list of those who'd helped him by tracking down info was "the patrons of Mudcat Cafe".

Cheers, Rowan
