We changed tack a bit last night at Faldingworth.
We decided to have a fun night by having Shep Woolley do His RocknRoll Elvis to Revolver show.
It was brilliant, with Shep remembering and singing songs from, Marty Wilde, Lonnie Donegan, Elvis, Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran, Beatles, Riff Pilchard and the list goes on. He really had the audience going.
On top of that he had the audience near to peeing themselves with laughter.

It's nice to get away from the folk side occasionally and to have a true entertainer on stage.

10 out of 10 Shep..

Cara did a great job doing the wallpaper job, whilst we ate our food. The really great thing about these guys, is that they can do a wallpaper job and it doesn't concern them and by the same token, do a brilliant job in a concert environment. You did everything I asked of you me maties. Thanks so much.

I would like to make one comment. If you didn't know the RocknRoll songs that Shep sang, then you would have been at a serious disadvantage and maybe it wouldn't have been your sort of show.
However over 95% of the audience thoroughly enjoyed it.

Eve Sellars who is 92, was singing a Buddy Holly song on her way out and she loved the show. Even my 17 year olddaughter for once really enjoyed it (and thats saying something)

Feedback on the food was very complimentary and a great big thanks to Dave Longden and his team for for working so hard and pulling that one off and to time.

Big thanks to Gwenda & Terry Cater for MCing and doing the PA.

Finally, its not very often we get comments like what I received today. The following is a quote from an e-mail sent to me from a couple who had never been before and was totally unexpected. However, it's amazing how much these sort of comments help the people who put all the hard work in and shows its not all for nothing.

Dear Les , Please pass on our thanks to the entertainers and back room staff and all the unseen helpers( and Terry) who make such an evening as last night such a most enjoyable event.
Thank you very much for the splendid evening , from the moment we walked in we could see the hard work and planning that had gone into making the event an absolute delight.
Thank you for your personnel effort Les , it was worth coming out on a winters evening and going home late but happy.

Best wishes and kind regards Dave & Sandra Killelay

Faldingworth Folk on a winter's night
New to us, but a sheer delight
Good company, warm welcome, things were just right
Good food, entertainment, it made a good night
We talked, we laughed and enjoyed a joke,
We drank some beer and drank some coke
All seated on time, No worries no rush
We new to folk, even gave you some Hush
Thanks to you and to one and all
We enjoyed our night at Faldingworth Hall

Many thanks Dave & Sandra, It's very much appreciated

Great night, Les. As one of the younger folks there (!), I didn't know many of the songs but hey, so what?!.

See you again soon.

Deirdre

Thanks Deirdre. You are so lucky to be so young. Have you seen yourself on the photo's talking to your mate Oakley?

I can bank on one night you will be there - when the Duncan McFarlane Accoustic Band are on :-)
