Thanks
Steve

Have you not looked in at the Woolpack, the best pub in Chelmsford, it hosts an open mic/session on the last Sunday each month. We enjoyed it there in November on a recent visit from "up north". Good beer and a friendly venue.

There's a traditional English tunes session in the United Brethren pub in Chelmsford every Tuesday night. Starts about 9.00 pm.

Hi Squeezy, I live in Chelmsford too. Go to LanFranc's site. The Blackmore club meets in Writtle 1st Thursday of the month. It is a very well attended, friendly, welcoming club. Got shloads of talent. I love it.

In Margaretting at the Red Lion there is a free sing/play around session every 2nd Thursday. Very well attended. Amazing talent.

In Billericay at the Rising Sun there is a pay (tiny amount at the door) floor spot session in the function room out back every last Thursday of the month.   Some of the same people attend Blackmore and Margaretting. Only been once so far, but plan to return.

I did not know about the Woolpack... Must check this out.

Thanks all - I'll try and get to these sessions, although I don't play so much English music nowadays (my main playing interest is Scandinavian - polskas and the like), I do sing English songs.

Hi Squeezy
Have a look on here for Fab Club. I will attatch a clicky to the website. We meet in Grays on 1st, 3rd, 4th, and occasional 2nd Sunday afternoons, mainly singers and players sessions. There are also performing opportunities on 3rd Sundays, when we have a guest.

We went to a Scandanavian Dance recently in Bristol (once a year about this time).

If you can dance ceilidh you will be into it pretty quick, and if you dance French/Breton learning is instantaneous.

There's a brand new Scandinavian Session starting up in Braintree on the 13th November:
Swan's Second Sunday Scandi Session at the Swan

Be great to see you there. :D

Is there a replacement?

www.essexfolk.org.uk

The club and session listing was last updated on 13 August and they hadn't registered Walthamstow's move at the beginning of the year so I wouldn't travel anywhere without phoning the organiser first.
