Subject: RE: Mud Chat From: Leadfingers Date: 28 Dec 08 - 12:22 PM There were four of us having a natter earlier this afternoon ! |
Subject: RE: Mud Chat From: skarpi Date: 28 Dec 08 - 01:06 PM no one there ? I wander why ......... I want to share , dont be shy but no one there , still I wander why ..... well we got Facebook ... and others chat and I think many of us are in the Facebook as well .... |
Subject: RE: Mud Chat From: gnu Date: 28 Dec 08 - 02:18 PM Why not go in? Because it is not monitored. If you go in and you get bullied because some of the people in chat don't approve of your friends or your humour or whatever, you don't bother going back. It's not just me. I can name many 'Catters who just can't be bothered anymore. Some have left the Café entirely.... LEFT... because of the bullying in chat and even in the threads. Matter of fact, some of my friends here at the Café are gonna be upset at me for posting this. They would rather I said nothing, never went into chat, and "let sleeping dogs lie". Maybe I should? |
Subject: RE: Mud Chat From: skarpi Date: 28 Dec 08 - 02:24 PM well said my friend . |
Subject: RE: Mud Chat From: Maryrrf Date: 28 Dec 08 - 03:16 PM I left off chatting in part because I didn't want to get involved in any strife and there seemed to be no way to remain neutral, and then decided I was probably spending too much time in cyberspace anyway, so got out of the habit entirely. I still check the threads daily though. |
Subject: RE: Mud Chat From: Rasener Date: 28 Dec 08 - 03:19 PM Never seen any bullying when I have been in chat. |
Subject: RE: Mud Chat From: gnu Date: 28 Dec 08 - 03:40 PM Villan. It doesn't often take place "in public" anymore. It used to. Mostly, now, the only time it takes place in public is in the threads. |
Subject: RE: Mud Chat From: terrier Date: 28 Dec 08 - 05:10 PM Gnu, if bullying doesn't often take place "in public" anymore but only in the threads, which are public, I'm not sure I understand your post? :) Anyhows, what do people talk about "in chat" that they don't talk about in the threads? I've ofen seen a number of names on the chat list but as I don't know what they're chatting about, I figure it might be a private tete a tete, so I don't go there! I mean, would you go up to a couple of people in the street and just join in their private conversation? |
Subject: RE: Mud Chat From: Mrs.Duck Date: 28 Dec 08 - 06:04 PM Sadly I am aware of one member who has been bullied to the point of leaving the forum. |
Subject: RE: Mud Chat From: gnu Date: 28 Dec 08 - 06:06 PM Well, it used to be a place where Mudcatters would go to banter and joke and just shoot the shit. But, it is kinda obvious that it has not been that way... for over a year, actually... hence the past and recent discussions to that effect. As for the public bullying, I shall not get into that. The clones may sort that out in due time. It's all there for anyone to read. The odd thing that occurs to me is that it is all on record. Why anyone would continue to bully or to slag others when it is ALL on record amazes me. It's like some people don't care what they say or to whom they say it. In any case, Mud Chat may be revived simply by "this discussion". If so, I would be grateful. I do miss it. Well, I miss my old buddies who used to Mud Chat. |
Subject: RE: Mud Chat From: Mrs.Duck Date: 28 Dec 08 - 06:19 PM Well is alive and kicking tonight. Lots of old and new faces in. |
Subject: RE: Mud Chat From: John MacKenzie Date: 28 Dec 08 - 06:20 PM Where are the Alpheus and Peneus when you need them? |

Subject: RE: Mud Chat From: Susanne (skw) Date: 28 Dec 08 - 06:39 PM I just entered the MudChat, was warmly welcomed by the four others present (thanks all!), didn't know how to go about replying, used the back button and am now barred from the chatroom because someone called Susanne (skw) did not log off properly ... Joe, can you help, please? I'll try again another time. |
Subject: RE: Mud Chat From: Mrs.Duck Date: 28 Dec 08 - 06:48 PM disconnect from the internet and try again or even reboot if you get back in we'll help you start chatting. |
Subject: RE: Mud Chat From: artbrooks Date: 28 Dec 08 - 07:25 PM Nobody home right now...I'll hang around for a few minutes. |
Subject: RE: Mud Chat From: Leadfingers Date: 28 Dec 08 - 08:46 PM You were hanging about while ALL sorts of chat went on art ! Shame you didnt join in ! This is a Post from someone who has just been accused of causing most of the trouble in MudChat ! It would be funny , if it wasnt so Sad ! |
Subject: RE: Mud Chat From: artbrooks Date: 28 Dec 08 - 11:18 PM I have caused all of the trouble? Can't see it. I do apologize for dropping in, and then not closing out when herself asked me for the PC, though. |
Subject: RE: Mud Chat From: John MacKenzie Date: 29 Dec 08 - 05:56 AM Nah not you Art my friend, it's that Terry LF, he's the culprit ¦¬] |
Subject: RE: Mud Chat From: Bonnie Shaljean Date: 29 Dec 08 - 06:24 AM OK, so I just looked up Alpheus and Peneus in Wiki (yeah, I know, too lazy to get the books down). They're river deities from Greek mythology. I liked the bit where Artemis covers her and her nymphs' faces with mud to escape Alpheus' attentions. Here is a verbatim quote regarding some of the antics of the gods: It was Eros's plan that Daphne would scorn Apollo because Eros was angry that Apollo had made fun of his archery skills. Eros also claimed to be irritated by Apollo's singing. Just sounds like a typical day in a Mudcat flame fest! Plus ça change . . . |
Subject: RE: Mud Chat From: stallion Date: 29 Dec 08 - 06:57 AM I am so busied and exhausted with occupation as to visit on a regular basis, although when I was ill and laid up for eight months I was in there all the time and I was a witness to some of it. My comment, and it is my last on the subject, what was thought by some to be inane comical banter, was seen by some (including the recipients) as a rasping sarcastic, fulminating attack. I did see what went on and when a small indent from a hat pin appeared to have the effect of a 12lb canon ball the perps should have backed off not stuck a few more in for fun. From there everything got out of hand, any way, grown people should have seen the stupidity of what was going on and apologised all round and got on with it. We live in a very diverse society and there should be room for everyone to co exist peacefully but it requires all those in glass houses not to throw stones and an application humility and empathy that appears to be somewhat lacking. i do not bear grudges it makes one s life very bitter, I am not sure if I forgive, but in this case, at the beginning of a new year lets have a resulution that in this place, the cafe, in Mudchat, it is a refuge from the insanity of strife that surrounds us and make it a place for support and help like most of the threads in this place, as indeed it was when I was ill. Subject: RE: Mud Chat From: gnu Date: 29 Dec 08 - 01:32 PM I was in Mud Chat for a while last night and all was fine and cordial. It was pleasant. I enjoyed it. I'll be back. I hope stallion's wish for Mud Chat and for the forum threads holds forth. |
Subject: RE: Mud Chat From: MBSGeorge Date: 29 Dec 08 - 03:28 PM The most likely times to find people in mudchat are early evening UK time and early evening US time - but for UKers that means looking in V.Late. I could also be accused of lurking - I have in the past been the only one logged in for about an hour before anyone comes in and I just open a new web page and go back and check the chat room every 5 mins or so. I may see some of you in there again soon. George x |
Subject: RE: Mud Chat From: Louie Roy Date: 29 Dec 08 - 03:29 PM It has been at least a year that I last visited Chat Room but when I did I was treated very nicely and I saw none of the negative threads that is being printed now.I was always welcome with a cordial hello by all that were in the room at that time.In my opinion it is an excellent program Louie Roy |
