Subject: Words to 'I don't want you hanging around'
From: rdickers@fnol.net
Date: 25 Jun 99 - 05:08 PM

I don't know if anyone can help but I'm looking for the words, title and the artists name to two old songs I learned off and album that I had purchased back in 1973. I don't know the artist but I believe he was American Indian or part American Indian. The songs were in "G" and had lots of "Travis" picking.

Some phrases from the first (I think it was called "I don't want you hangin' around"):

Put that box of Kleenex down.
I don't want you hangin around.
Well you can sit and cry your tears but there's one thing I know:
It's plain to see that it's you or me and I ain't about to go,
So just point your shoes to the edge of town.
I don't want you hangin around.

The second was similar (I think it was called "Separation Blues") - again some phrases:

I'm in the kitchen - baby's in the hall.
I'm in the Kitchen - baby's in the hall.
I'm in the kitchen - baby's in the hall.
She won't speak to me at all.
Cause you we got - we got those separation blues.

Any help would be appreciated.

The artist is Patrick Sky, indeed, a Native American. See the previous thread on Separation Blues Tab. The two songs are from the album "Patrick Sky".

Far out ... another Pat Sky fan!!! But....

I don't want you hangin' 'round,
Not in my vicinity...
I don't want you hangin' 'roun.

Go to CD Now (click the Support Mudcat icon on the main thread page) and under artist, type in Patrick Sky. The album that "Hangin' Round" is on is available and has audio clips.

Thanks. I didn't think I'd get an answer but now I'll have to get the album again. I can still play both songs but have a few gaps when it comes to the words.

Hangin' Round--Pat Sky

    .....C.........................A
Well I don't want you hangin' round
          D7.............G7................C..
Don't wanna see you after the sun goes down
    .....C........................A(7)
Said I don't want you hangin' round
    .......D7........................G7.............C
Better cross the street that you see me comin' down

    ........E7...................
Well remember how I found you
    ....F.....................
And how you talked so sweet
    ....D7.................................
You lied to me you was livin' in a tree
    ........G7........................
And you didn't have nothin' to eat
    .....C..............................A(7)
Well babe you hear what I'm puttin' down
    D7......G7...............C....
I don't want you hangin' round

Well put that box of kleenex down
said I don't want you hangin' round
Well put that box of kleenex down
Go and blow your nose on the other side of town

Well you can sit and cry your tears, but there's one thing I know
It's plain to see it's you or me, and I ain't about to go
So point your shoes to the edge of town
Said I don't want you hangin' round

    C.......A7........D7......G7................C...
In my vicinity no I don't want you hangin' round

Just posted this elsewhere and realized it wasn't here!

I think I remember the last verse of Separation Blues.

Well, the very last thing that John the Baptist said (x3)
Just before they cut off his head
Was, this is gonna give me the separation blues!

Separation Blues is already in the DT (always one of my favourite Pat Sky songs - infused with that great sense of silly fun).
