I asked,about this tune 12 years ago and alison kindly posted the ABC of the tune here:

There are lyrics to different versions of the song in the above thread, too.

Lovely tune, thanks for reminding me of it. We don't get the Glenroe programme in Oz at present. (I did watch it, really. :-) I got caught up in the characters and plots.)
