Odd coincidence. I was looking at an old Atlantic label LP this afternoon that was released in the early 70's - it's a sampler, that originally cost 99p, showcasing artists on the label at that time, like John Prine, Dr John, Buffalo Springfield. It contains a track by Gordon Haskell.

I was sitting in with a band in Weymouth one night about three years ago and he walked in the pub. he had this stunningly gorgeous woman with him. By the time the set ended they'd gone - but they stayed for a few numbers.

About 5 years ago ,when I lived in Christchurch,Dorset, he often did solo gigs in a pub called "The Thomas Tripp", and very good he was too------then he had a single,"Harry's Bar" ,made loads of money (presumably) and I guess didn't need pub gigs any more !!

He is still very much alive, writing new songs and working on a new project somewhere in Greece. Last gig I heard of was at Katerini in Greece during their Arts festival this Oct (2009). Reported to have been fantastic - the Greek audience loved him even if they couldn't understand all his lyrics. He also did a summer gig on Skopelos Island with Robbie Macintosh and Marek Podowa. Check out: http://www.flickr.com/photos/virgilet/3811100049/
I'm told that after all the hype of the 2002 hit he needed to escaped to a saner world - and has!!

Wasn't Gordon Haskell effectively shafted in the race for Christmas #1 by the machine behind Robbie Williams ?

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the BBC top knobs were told by Robbie's management that if Haskell was allowed to appear live on Top of The Pops singing 'Harry's Bar' then Robbie may be withdrawn from future appearances on the BBC.

Guess who didn't appear on TOTPs? And guess who got the number one?

I could no longer live in a country run by fascists whose only intention is to enslave us all and bleed us all to death . I urge all humanitarians to protest about the brutality and injustice of the case of Bradley Manning who has demonstrated his humanity and immense courage by revealing the truth of the barbaric and corrupt behaviour of the United States military in Iraq. The gangsters who control The White House and to some degree the British Government will be brought to book but only if we speak up now. Let's not wait to hear their pathetic cries of 'I was only following orders' 20 years from now. --Like the last lot of Nazis did. The same kind of cruelty that some ignorant , cowardly and vicious human beings subjected the occupants of Auschwitz to in the second world war is again happening and being allowed to happen --by our silence.
When I sang 'Do you know How wonderful you are' I thought perhaps you would realise that ordinary people like you and me can do something . Please do not turn a blind eye to Bradley Manning. He is a truly brave soul and a wonderful example . He's doing it for the good of all of us. Don't let him down. History will thank you.
Gordon Haskell

Cheers, Gordon! My deepest apologies, but legend has it your heart wasn't in it that's all; though I've always loved your examplary bass playing on that album. Legend also has it that you cracked up at Sinfield's lyrical excesses on Indoor Games - & that your laughter and the end is for real...

Bradley Manning -all you have to do is type in his name to Google. The BBC are not that helpful with the real details. A link? Try his name or 'Courage to Resist'.
The fact that some may not know who he is , means that the British media are editing the news. It would be headlines in a democratic country. The public all know about the X Factor.
It should be rather worrying to us all but as Johnnie Walker was always fond of saying to me in his nice way, 'Gordon...you live on Planet Should, whereas I live on Planet Is'.
. When you hear of a brave Welshman being tortured by the US military at the behest of The White House, Say nothing, do nothing. Take the money, think positive, and be happy. My answer to that is 'Bollocks'. I am happy to be free to speak my mind, and I do not speak at all until I have thoroughly checked the evidence in order to illuminate the darkness. This is what an artist does best.   Money, career? Forget it. If you are not part of the solution, you become part of the problem. I would rather be a hobo than succumb to what all adds up to pure fascism. Bradley Manning has been in solitary for over 12 months, stripped naked, humiliated, manacled, simply for having the guts to call a spade a spade. And he is threatened with the death sentence. It's a bloody disgrace. To do nothing makes criminals of us all. Dig deep. Or lay back and think of England.

King Crimson is what happens when cousins marry. I accept your apology. And yes, all of what you say is true. But at 65 years old one grows tired of turning the other cheek. I have taken 40 years of insults from King Crimson fans. I have met many. When told the truth , as I was actually there when Lizard was made,, they prefer to cling to their absurd illusions . That's OK with me. I am not a dictator. I am a free man and as a free man I can now punch back as hard as I wish to defend myself. Particularly as 30 pounds a week for 9 months of my life in 1971 in that shambolic fascist scene always seemed unfair, and was never enough to buy my silence. I am sure after 40 years of CD re-masters etc it has recouped its costs. Fortunately, due to my own hard work and fight against that and other breeds of fascism in the music business, I can now retire, peacefully and happily. I am so glad it is all over. What a complete waste of energy and time when I could have been here on this island years ago, growing my own food and building my own house and looking after 8 cats. To say nothing of the amazing woman standing beside me. And I can work as a real musician/singer-songwriter anywhere, anytime. I just choose not to. That is what freedom is. Hobos do it and I always preferred hobos to most people. They've got guts. Check out Eden Ahbez. He only needed to write one song 'Nature Boy'. He said it all in less than 2 minutes. That my friend is called Genius. And he slept out rough. And by all accounts, was extremely happy. He didn't need to be invited to Royal Ascot with all the other twats.

I am grateful for many blessings. The 'fame' bit has never been fully explained and it takes a while to decide whether or not to tell the story, or not ,as it is just as Kipling wrote, an impostor.
My former manager Ian Brown, played a large role. He was a bankrupted farmer living in a rented house but he had the same gift as those dark characters who act as PR men for Prime Ministers and Presidents. I always made my records with my own money yet I had to endure his false reporting right from the start, of him saying over and over again "I lent Gordon 200 quid as he was broke to make his record and I gave it to Johnnie Walker'. He loved to make himself the hero, and frankly I was amused at his immaturity and allowed him his little ego trips. Silly little man I thought.
So what is the truth? And should I even bother to tell it, as who cares?
I am not even sure if I care anymore as I eventually rejected that crappy crummy little world for a heavenly one here in Skopelos.
I already owned a house when I met Ian Brown. I already had a 28,000 pa income from gigs via the bars. He had nothing. Yet the illusion and perception remain the same. That I owe it all to Ian Brown. To the media twats who know nothing about music, it wasn't the song, very well sung if I may be so bold, very well written and performed and produced by me. It was all down to the genius of Ian Brown.
Johnnie walker and I were old friends from 1966 and I had seen him a few times over the 35 years. The day Johnnie got my record I was with Tiggy, his wife to be. He fell in love with her, that very night and played my record and the following day me and Tiggy parted company and they became a serious item. I was pleased for them even if it seemed like a trade off for getting my record on the air. I pretended not to feel betrayed. I told you this business is crummy. As soon as it was aired the public went nuts and my success was assured. So far Ian Brown had had little to do with it. Where Ian Brown scores is his ability to get things done like distribution and publicity . Not for publicity's sake but to give retailers the confidence in stocking a 'dark horse' type of record. 55 years old? Not really chum. It escalated from there. Ian Brown's own little record company could not perform its tasks with such large orders so we agreed to sign to Warners. At that point he, morally, should have dropped his percentage. I paid 50% for 6 weeks of his time and it amounted to well over 300,000. He made sure all the phone calls for work went through his office. I received no offers, or phone calls. It was like being imprisoned, owned, an inanimate 'object' . I would hear from him when he had had time to cook something up. I was kept well and truly in the dark. He transferred his affections from me to the heads of record companies, to media editors, creating a network for any future artists he might control in the same way. I did not meet anyone. I was considered lucky and financially, it is true, I was at the time. When Ian Brown began to grasp how easy it is to make money in his new position as a manager of a successful artist, he really got into his stride. Clear Channel the largest promoter in the country cooked up a deal with him and Asgard for A Gordon Haskell tour. It was just like Zero Mostel in the movie'The Producers'. How can we make more money out of a flop than we can out of a hit? Simple. After 2 weeks of tickets being available , feed a story to our friends in The Tabloids that only 39 tickets were sold in Hammersmith and the tour is being cancelled. Result? The Guarantee stipulates compensation for the 'Artist' of 100,000 pounds. I received 5000 pounds of that with his kindly words' That's the easiest 5000 you've ever made'. He omitted to clarify where the rest of the money went. Nice work Ian. Gradually my gratitude turned when I saw what a creep he had become in the space of 2 months. Then it all began to become clear. It was indeed a blessing and I am indeed grateful to him for he educated me in the ways of the world and here I am in paradise with the same money I had when I met him. Paradise isn't that expensive and to stay around such people as the above just to make money would be the same foolishness that they have chosen. None of them have anything I want. Or need. No one uses me anymore and it feels great. So thankyou to all those who tried to make a fool out of me. How little did you know that time would show you how morally, aesthetically, and politically bankrupt you all are. The tide has turned. So from being a bankrupt farmer you grew into a bankrupt human being. Congratulations. I hope you too are grateful for what you have learned. Best wishes from paradise. I thank you.

Well Gordon never was a truer word spoken as to the way people treat people in this 'modern' society. All I have to say to them is " Anyone who uses another to feather their own nests soon find that those feathers turn to thorns with the effects of time and truth." Best wishes to you always and I hope to one day raise a beer or two with you again to celebrate how good it feels to live life with a clear conscience, good friends and thoughts of our own. As always your friend and admirer, Grahame

Thanks Grahame, very much. So the answer to 'whatever happened to GH' is he let nature take care of everything, and it has. Nature Boy is such a great song. I have done a few interviews over the phone with UK radio . It's really funny now. They cut me off or say things like 'I don't think that's appropriate for my programme!' And all I said was Blair walks off with 42 million in his pocket and the Government expect the people to pay for wars and incompetent bankers. I can't understand why they don't like me anymore!!!!! It really is so much more fun now. Not having to live the lie that 'a lot successful people are obliged to live. Play the game and shut up must be the motto. Well, look where it has taken England. With hyper inflation of 15%-25% on the way all their questionable wealth will be gone. And what for? Just to keep quiet. I seem to recall that is what the Germans did in Auschwitz.
Enough already. I must water the garden. Have to go. Pressure of work. You understand. Then take a swim. Then have a whisky and coke. Check in later!!

The Last Word Department.
The Gangsters or Banksters as they have been nicknamed have an agenda. They control the media and The White House and The British Government-left and right.. They intend transferring all the wealth to a power elite who they represent. And enslave us all. They were behind the Twin Towers 9/11 atrocity. There are so many examples of the way they work . They evicted all the inhabitants of the Chagos Islands to build a USAF base. They backed dictators like PolPot. They invented the Vietnam War, the invasion of Iraq, and most wars in my lifetime and before. They backed Hitler. They have been responsible and directly linked to mass slaughter in all continents, too many to list here. Henry Kissinger who bombed Cambodia killing millions, used the same phrase as Ian Brown used all the time. He used to throw his hands up into the air and laugh and say 'I don't care'. Ian will be right at home when the UK is looking for Nazi SS officers to keep everyone under control. It's a psychological type of human being and they are easily bought. Even the Church of England has 9 million in News International and have been silenced. And the Intelligent Agencies run the drug world. Everyone gets bought. They couldn't buy Kennedy, Martin Luther King,John Lennon,Dr Kelly or Princess Diana. Those who resist get destroyed. They hate artists as artists tell the truth and real artists try to illuminate. That's why Hitler burned all the books, arrested all the writers and shot them. Real Artists aren't into money or fame. They are not against those things but when forced to keep quiet, and their words are continually edited by the mainstream media like the BBC, art cannot breathe. And artists are left with 2 choices.Either die or seek another path. . That is exactly what happened to Gordon Haskell.
As you asked.

The wonderful miracle that was 'How wonderful you are' ---
1.It was a surprise attack and the first airing began on the eve of september 11th
2.No one from the new world order saw us coming and it was too late to stop it as the impact on the public was as immense in an opposite way to the 9/11 attacks.
3.it took them 12 weeks before they could organize a plan to destroy it, using the music press, radio and tv employees and newspapers under their control.
4.we did top of the pops on dec 20th dec and they made their first move by instructing the bbc notto air it. They showed it 2 years later on top of the pops 2. it failed to make no 1. reputedly by a few hundred copies.
5.Everyone in the music business said the same thing. We don't get it' was their mantra for the season.
6.'Don't worry. He won't be around for long ' was their second mantra.
7. 10 years on after 9/11 and the beauty and truth of the song remains . A song that teaches the very opposite of the teachings of The Tavistock Institute who it is said trained Adolf Hitler.
8.I am old now. I will die . But it has gone on record. I hope I did something good. Goodbye.

Its June 2012. Are you happy at what has happened in the last 10 years? Can we expect another fake 9/11 at the Olympics? Martial Law? Blair as President of the UN/EU? They will try to pull it off this year . Why? Because millions of us have got wise and they're scared of us. We outnumber them.Their trillions of stolen money is just paper. We owe them nothing and they will get nothing.

its looking like 'showtime' February 2013. I take some gratification that the BBC are being exposed and everything is becoming clearer culminating in what appears to be aligned with Satanism, mad as it seems. But then they are all mad. My instinct has proved to be fantastic and almost incredible. I know now at 66 years old that I should have paid more attention to it. I was right on the button for years. That feels good. There is a connection between The Tavistock Institute , the new world order and Fripp and Eno and Bowie. Yet , I think they may still be naive despite their pseudo-intellectuality and hold over the buffoons out there. But that's how I feel about the power structures too. Fripp always claimed you are only as good as your weakest member when talking about a band. He was right about that .They are all as bright as George Bush and we all know how dumb he was. So how could they ever hope to pull this 'thing' off? Their incompetence , their arrogance and their lack of moderation ,combined with their self-delusions, their deceit and self-deceit, their invincible ignorance--all of these will contribute to their downfall. I hope I live to see it. Evil only prospers when good men do nothing.

Message for Dan Cairns and Adam Sweeting --Sunday Times/Guardian
So what are you both? Nazis working for the Bankers/Zionists? Marxists working for the Bankers/Zionists? Communitarians /collectivists working for the bankers/Zionists? Agents working for the Tavistock Institute/Bankers/Zionists? Perverts ditto. I can't decide. But according to you I'm just an old warhorse put out to grass in some benighted village pub and not a member of the club. I'm ignorant and you're smart; is that how you see it? You have read one book and decided you know it all and any individual has to be exterminated 'for the greater good' as Common Purpose puts it in their bullshit fascist-marxist nonsense that you have swallowed like mothers milk . You poor saps. Any one in a collective such as yours is a tool or as Kissinger and Julia Middleton call you--'the useful idiots'. And you'll be sent to the camps along with the rest of us .Do you know the other word for a tool? A prick.Which was my original first impressions of you both back in 2001. History has proved that I was right. You're both pricks.Dan Cairns and Adam Sweeting are both ignorant dickheads. Working for corporate fascists morons. They love that money and position like their idiot pals.

No one can control or monitor what lives in our hearts. That is your own official secret . That is what I meant by asking the question,'do you know how wonderful you are?'
With that secret we each can produce the cures required to prevent outside interference and/or dis-ease. "They"have their secrets but they are delusional if they believe by spying on us they will know ours. They're idiots. Treat them with the contempt they deserve. Or love them. That will really annoy them!

Note my comments back in June 2011 re Bradley manning.
Finally Obama is going to release him on May 17th 2017.
Thrilled for Bradley/Chelsea. I will dedicate 'More than that' to him . The words are perfect for him now. 'Where once the skies were grey, they'd all turned back to blue'.
The glorious magic of having faith.
Gordon
