St George's day (23rd April) is a Thursday this year.

SO, Rob and Ris at The King's Arms in Upnor (near Rochester/Strood, Kent) are holding a Beer and Folk weekend on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th April.

Bishop Gundulf's Morris will be there on the Saturday (also the night of 23rd as well!!) and other sides are already showing an interest in attending.

There will be the usual, very well chosen, selection of Real Ales and Ciders to cater for all tastes, served from the shack in the garden. Food may be ordered from inside the pub. Not confirmed yet, but there will probably be burgers etc outside (will confirm when I know more details).

ALL musicians and singers are requested to attend if they possibly can - for some or all of it, as they so wish. There will be a fire pit which we can all sit round. Singers and musicians are welcome at anytime over the weekend from Friday night through to the Sunday night. If it is dry (like last year) it is just fantastic to sit round the fire singing/playing, enjoying a terrific pint with some great friends - what more could you want??!!!!

Last year's was fantastic - let's hope that we can better it this year!!!!

Please put the date in your diaries and keep checking the thread, as I'll keep you posted on developments as and when Rob informs me.

I would suggest that we push the KA one for April - many poeple would not be able/prepared to do two, back to back - and it would be a shame to reduce the numbers at each.

Time to get this little baby up and running again!!!!

Bishop Gundulf's Morris will be there on the night of St George's Day (23rd in case you don't know!!) plus the afternoon of 25th!!!

Hope that you will be able to make it. Good sized beer garden. Great selectionof realales and ciders. Fire pit. Singers and musicians welcom from the Thursday night, right through to the Sunday evening.

Rob and Ris put a great deal of time and effort into this, and support The Morris and The Folk a great deal - let's make it a good one for them eh!!!

Hi All
On the 19th April; I am deffinately with out a shadow of a doubt doing Richards sess at the Nags because I missed the last one through having to go to work due to having to cover others being off sick,

On the 25th April I am doing Romany Mans Crayford sess.

On the 26th I will try to do Upnor if I have any Tin left or any liver left for that matter.

1234 ,May I am doing the Sweeps.

We're mobile again, and drove to Strood and back yesterday. The car is a lot easier to drive, so distances might not be a problem any more. We have a hectic time around there. We may manage an appearance with Ben on the Saturday.He has got into New Roots again, so that's Sunday sorted. Then Ben is playing a floor spot at Dartford Tuesday 28th, and then we will be at Sweeps. Hoping to get to Good Intent for RTB on 14th.

Wish we could be there, Kev but Chris has Ofsted inspection week of 27th and he just received several Edexcel verifying packages. Never rains.... etc. So he has too much work. My regards to everyone.

We should be at Stoke on 19th and some of the sessions at Sweeps.

Sorry, owing to family commitments (my son-in-law is running in the London Marathon)I won't be able to make Upnor. I will be at the Nags Head on 19th April, and then at the Good Intent on 2nd May.

there were several beer festivals here last year. That one WAS very wet but the other ones were good weather, especially the St George's Day one.

I was in the King's Arms this lunch time, and Rob, the landlord, was enquiring as to how many people might be turning up for the festival on one or more of the days. I said that there should be a fair number (perhaps not as many as last year), but that there were other events and commitments for many of you. He said that you are all welcome whenever you can make it and that it will be a great weekend and thanked you all in advance, those that have already committed to attend.

Bishop Gundulf's Morris will be there in the afternoon, and will stay afterwards for a little playing/singing session.

It is up to you guys and gals to now make it a great weekend - three cheers for Ris and Rob.

See you on St George's Day or over the weekend (both at The King's Arms, Upnor, near Rochester).

Well the first evening of the weekend Beer Festival went very well indeed!!!!

Bishop Gundulf's Morris and Gong Scourers danced for a good crowd and then sang songs around the camp fire afterwards.

The beer and the ciders that were available were very easy to consume and were kept briliantly as ever by Rob.

Both Rob and Ris made us feel very welcome as they always do, and fed as very well indeed!!!

OK Folks - your turn now. The festival is running for the rest of this weekend. Bishop Gundulf's Morris will be there again on Saturday afternoon and hopefully that will be the time that the majority of Folkies will appear.
