The following is from the local press:-

"Morris dancer,father-of-three,Andy Henderson suffered a massive heart attack and died during practice.

Andy, 55, was taking a breather as fellow members from Whitstable's Dead Horse side were dancing at the Methodist Church Hall in Argyle Road, Whitstable, last Monday.

Andy, who founded the organisation in 1986, was renowned as the larger-than-life character he created Moll E Dangle-crutch.

He was taking a break between workouts at the Methodist Church Hall, in Argyle Road last Monday. (Jan 26)."

A sad loss to the local scene.

My condolences to his family and friends. I was a Morris Dancer (Manchester ; Manchester University ; Gorton ; Rumworth, and Southport Swords).

As a morris dancer's widow, my heart goes out to his family. There will be many poignant moments ahead for them. I knew of another guy who died during practice, and the shock reverberated through us all for a long time.

Andy's funeral was broadcast on the local TV news last night - a sad occasion obviously but it was nice to see the various Morris sides perform as a tribute to him outside the church.

Andy will be missed by many, especially those of us that knew him and danced with him, this great character of the morris world will be sadly missed, condolences to the whole family

I danced with Andy many times, and Mollied when he was not available on a few occasions.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
A truly larger than life character.
