There was a pop tune in 1959 called La Plume de Ma Tante. It came out during the run of a Broadway musical of the same name. Was there any connection between the song and the musical? All my websearch efforts to join the two have failed to find any connection.

I believe that the song was in the show but I am not certain of it.
My memory fails me after 50 long years.

Yes, pavane, that's the song. It says, Lyrics by: Al Hoffman, Dick Manning, whereas, according to the Internet Broadway Database, the musical had Lyrics: Ross Parker, Francis Blanche, so that's pretty good evidence that the song was not taken from the musical. Still, the song came out while the musical was running, leaving open the possibility that the former was "inspired" by the latter.

Thread creep: once in Canada a few years ago I heard a wonderful French song that was all the common French words Americans know strung together, like, "Menu, parlez vouz, s'il vous plait, raclette ..."

If I recall, that song is on youtube but the French version. I do believe, the English version was Mitch Millers children song album. which was the hit in the US

The Welsh version is "Penmaen Nant"
