Subject: RE: New folk club at Teralba NSW OZ From: nager Date: 21 Feb 09 - 08:58 PM Thanks Leadfingers. We'll keep you in mind, how much is the airfare? ... Seriously, I have had a few approaches from basically three chord strummers wanting to be paid to "perform". The $2.50 cover charge is for hall hire, publicity and catering. Any leftovers every few months will go to a registered charity. The club is purely a community group with amateur musicians where people can meet socially, learn off each other and have fun doing it. It's people's choice if they want to come or not. I have heaps of good and not so good musicians keen to take part. They are all welcome. Oh and I do all the organising - for free. |

Subject: RE: New folk club at Teralba NSW OZ From: nager Date: 22 Feb 09 - 04:40 PM I am pleased - in fact delighted - to report ... it went brilliantly! We had about 50 people turn up and we there was three hours of solid music in a rapid-fire concert and a terrific atmosphere. This involved a small band, a trio, a duo and around 10 solo performers with music right across the spectrums. We each did three songs and there was a 20 minute tea break for chatting. We managed to finish dead on time although many stayed around afterwards and helped clean up, stack the chairs etc and chat. The overall standard of musicianship was very high including of course (and you would know Helen) the brilliant ragtime and blues singer/guitarist Chris Cady! Kent Daniels also lent his support and some of the people from Newcastle and the Troubadour folk clubs came along too. Too many to mention but thanks one and all. See you again on March 22. |
