You know, the one with the space hippies. They actually had some good songs for their Herberts... were they all original to the series, or were some of them known folk songs? Does anyone perform them anywhere?

I remember the episode, and I remember being somewhat embarrassed by the songs the blond guy ('Adam')sang. The Uhuru/Spock song wasn't that bad. (Was it something like 'Somewhere Beyond Antares'?) I'm pretty sure the songs were excreted just for the show. As with everything, tastes may vary.

Charles Napier, the guitarish playing Space Hippie who did the singing went on to be the leader of the Good Ole Boys Band (Plays guitar and drives the Winnebago) in The Blues Brothers. Usually he played corrupt cops and Over The Top Gung Ho Officers in milirary comedies.

But a decent singer.

Don

The Uhuru/Spock duet was a different episode. There was no Uhuru in this one, some white chick had Communications.

OK, I reach. It was another episode where somebody took over the ship. (Unless it wasn't.) Bad memory, but I'm pretty sure Mr. Spock got his bad self down on a Vulcan lyre or something.

"Beyond Antares" was in the episode "Conscience of the King." Some of the crew are having a bit of a hootenanny in one of the rec. rooms and Ensign Riley is stuck all by himself in engineering. Beeps the rec. room and asks Uhura to sing something for him so he doesn't feel like he's the only living thing in the universe. She sings "Beyond Antares."

In the meantime, there's dirty work afoot. . . .

Don Firth

And wasn't Charles Napier also defaced by Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs?
