The Marshall Public Library, in cooperation with KISU-FM, is in the process of preparing a series of recorded interviews on people you might have heard of. Dana Stabenow, the Alaskan mystery author, was broadcast on February 19; as soon as we get around to it that and other interviews will be available (after they are broadcast) on the Library's website. If you want to listen to the interview, KISU simulcasts over www.kisu.org. Here's the tentative schedule:

Month of April, 2009: Local poets for National Poetry Month

Monday, May 11, 6 p.m.: Bruce Murdoch in the first half hour; then a half hour with Peter Schickele.

Monday, June 8, 6 p.m.: J.A. Jance; Brandon Mull.

Monday, July 13, 6 p.m.: Nancy Pearl; Peter Westbrook.

Monday, August 10, 6 p.m.: Bob Nelson; Kendall Morse.

TBA: Tom Paxton, Spider Robinson, Ursula K. Le Guin.

Funny story:

They're taping with Peter Schickele this Thursday. One of the interviewers called over to the station to arrange for the taping time and was talking to the engineer we work with. When she told him who was being interviewed he went dead quiet for so long that she asked if he was still there. Yes, he was. Turns out he literally grew up on classical music (his mom has an MFA in music) and he was struck speechless because Peter Schickele is one of his personal heroes.

He's now half of the interview team, a temporary honorary member of the Library staff.

could help you find someone who could recite some poetry
or participate in an interview.

Peter Westbrook is a renowned (within the sport, anyway) fencer who started the Westbrook Foundation to help inner-city kids. Keeth Smart, who excelled at Beijing, is one of his proteges. My coach introduced me to both of them at a National event. Nice guys. That should be an interesting interview.

The current broadcast schedule:

Bob Nelson, Kendall Morse                Mon., August 10th at 6 pm

Times (and dates, for that matter) are Mountain Daylight Time -- add two hours for the Eastern Time Zone, subtract an hour for the Pacific. If you're in some furrin country or in one of them odd places like most of Indiana that doesn't "do" Daylight Savings Time you'll just have to adjust.

The interviews are simulcast on www.kisu.org at the same time they're broadcast.

Note that we might be moving to Sunday night. I'll let y'all know if/when that happens.
