Subject: Avoiding accidents while doing a thread From: Shack Date: 01 Jul 99 - 12:31 PM When I'm doing a thread and accidently hit "enter," it throws me out of the thread and slap off of the internet. Is there any way to avoid this? When writing song lyrics, how do you do a hard return to make it look pretty, without getting thrown out of cyberspace? When it happens, I sometimes emit profanity. |
Subject: RE: Avoiding accidents while doing a thread From: Mudjack Date: 01 Jul 99 - 12:52 PM It has to do with that HTML stuff. You have to do < and type br and then > . Someone will come along and do a blue clickie thing on HMTLs and you will be on your way Mudjack |

It's seldom I get to kill two birds with one stone and practice the blue clicky thing and at the same time render assistance to a fellow cyber-traveller on the I-Highway, so here goes (I'll really feel stupid if this doesn't work, but hey, you never know until you try.... Now to the proof..... |

Subject: RE: Avoiding accidents while doing a thread From: Bill D Date: 01 Jul 99 - 06:42 PM but that doesn't explain why you'd get kicked clear off the Net/WWW...that sort of trouble usually has to do with memory conflicts or too many programs running...something like that...it happens to me at times because I ask poor old Windows3.1 to look at 2 or 3 things at once. Hitting enter too soon should not do more than just post an incomplete thought. |

Subject: RE: Avoiding accidents while doing a thread From: alison Date: 01 Jul 99 - 09:04 PM Occasionally when I am typing, (this has started over the last few months) if I try to correct a spelling mistake befroe I submit... I get kicked out of the thread and my message disappears... but I don't get kicked off the net. Slainte alison |
Subject: RE: Avoiding accidents while doing a thread From: Joe Offer Date: 02 Jul 99 - 12:30 AM Well, Alison, I see you didn't try to correct any spelling mistakes in the messages above....(grin) If you use BACKSPACE to correct a mistake while entering a message, your browser may read that as a command to go back to the previous page. You may be able to recover your half-typed message by using your mouse to click on the FORWARD arrow icon on your browser. Shack, I have encountered sites that crash my browser, but not this one. See if you can figure out exactly what it is that happens and what leads up to it, and post that information in the Help Forum (click). George and Neil, I am very proud that you have mastered the blue clicky thingys. I see that there are lots of people who do links now. Now, I wonder if we can convince more people to post tunes... -Joe offer- |

Subject: RE: Avoiding accidents while doing a thread From: Steve Parkes Date: 02 Jul 99 - 03:33 AM This explains a mystery that's been puzzling me for some time: every now and then my browser fires up of its own accord and presents me with a list of badly-typed swearwords! Now I shall be able to send them home. Stebollveocks |
