Subject: Great Irish Warpipe - info on makers? From: Big Mick Date: 19 Mar 09 - 12:05 AM I have been interested of late in finding a maker, or plans, for this bagpipe. Bear in mind I am not looking for the Brian Boru pipe, but the Great Irish Warpipe. It is a two drone affair. I am curious as to the bore measurements, and all related info. All the best, Mick |
Subject: RE: Great Irish Warpipe - info on makers? From: Ross Campbell Date: 19 Mar 09 - 02:07 AM "bagpipe plans" in google produced more results than "great irish warpipe". Adding in "irish" unfortunately tends to swing the selection towards Uillean pipes. These two sites might be of interest, though the second one carries a health warning! http://www.bagpipeproject.com/ Antique Highland Bagpipe Plans I used to be a member of the Bagpipe Society (UK based but with a wide international membership, and concerned with all types of bagpipe). Many of its members are makers. Their magazine "Chanter" has had articles on various aspects of bagpipe and reed-making. The Early Music Shop, Saltaire, Bradford used to do kits of numerous instruments, but I can't find anything on their current website. They used to supply specialist materials as well. Ross |
