Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Double Cross byMary Coughlan From: Zen Date: 23 Mar 09 - 09:43 PM I happen to know she has the album which is why she is familiar with the song but some of the words are unclear for transcription hence the polite request. Satisfied? Why did you assume otherwise? |
Subject: Lyr Add: DOUBLE CROSS (Mary Coughlan) From: Jim Dixon Date: 24 Mar 09 - 11:51 PM This song sounds strangely familiar. Was it used as the theme song for some British TV program? I couldn't find the lyrics anywhere on the Internet, so I transcribed them as best I could from a sound file found at Blip.fm. A few words are doubtful. DOUBLE CROSS Mary Coughlan 1. I wake up in the morning, get out of bed and drag my makeup on. I walk out on the street. My ev'ry exit's covered. Hitch up my pants and I fake it just like the man. CHORUS: Ev'ry hold [or "hose"?] that I had untangled, ev'ry dream that I thought(?) was mine, Well, it's all quite forgotten now, lost without the double cross of yore(?). 2. Like my coffee I've grown cold. I stare behind and fade into the wall. I'm lost amongst the jostling crowds at lunchtime. I'm hoping you'll come but I know that you won't even call. 3. My social smile comes out again. My glass in hand, I work for one and all. Ah, but deep inside, I'm crying just like a baby. I'm all grown up but I never learned how to crawl. [As sung by Mary Coughlan on "Tired and Emotional," "Love Me or Leave Me: The Best of Mary Coughlan," and "Platinum Collection."] |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Double Cross (Mary Coughlan) From: GUEST Date: 05 Mar 10 - 04:19 PM Hi I've listed to the lyrics and thought they sounded a bit different: 1. I wake up in the morning, get out of bed and drag my makeup on. I walk out on the street. My ev'ry exit's covered. Hitch up my pants and I fake it just like a man. CHORUS: Ev'ry hold that I had on time, ev'ry dream that I thought was mine, Well, it's all quite forgotten now, lost without the double cross of you(?) 2. Like my coffee I've grown cold. I stay behind and fade into the wall. I'm lost amongst the jostling crowds at lunchtime. I'm hoping you'll come but I know that you won't even call. 3. My social smile comes out again. My glass in hand, I've a word for one and all. Ah, but deep inside, I'm crying just like a baby. I'm all grown up but I never learned how to crawl. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Double Cross (Mary Coughlan) From: GUEST,joan Date: 22 Jun 10 - 05:45 PM Thanks I've been looking for these lyrics for so long because i doubted some of the words i was hearing, such as "fake it just like a man!" Anyway, I think guest has it with the words, just one line from me which i think fills in that missing word ... lost without the double cross of your love Thats it |
